Tell us about your prior experience in cybersecurity.

I came to Red Canary with little to no experience or knowledge in cybersecurity. After two and a half years, I feel like I’ve at least received an associates degree. In another two years, I hope to have my bachelors. The industry is constantly changing and evolving so that will make it hard to graduate on time!

With no experience in cybersecurity, what brought you to Red Canary?

An opportunity to work for an amazing, privately held company with a culture and core values that matched what I was looking for in Denver. Cybersecurity was a new challenge for me and based on everything I researched, it was an emerging market with a ton of potential.  Also, I heard they had free snacks and a ping pong table. Once I confirmed they stocked La Croix in the fridge it was a no brainer after I received the offer.

Besides carbonated hydration, how has Red Canary supported your career growth?

Everyone at the company all the way up to the CEO has lent a helping hand in my career development. I have had great leaders, mentors and have been provided the feedback I needed to continue to grow my career here. Also, Red Canary focuses on non-revenue generating investments such as learning & development that will only further make us a destination employer for people who are looking for high growth opportunities.

How is this support engrained in the Red Canary culture?

Authenticity and kindness are woven into the fabric of the Red Canary culture. These two principles are not just preached but actually practiced across all Canaries who work here. That notion is embodied from top to bottom across our entire company.  I strongly believe it’s part of the foundation for Red Canary’s success and growth.

After 2.5 years what motivates you to stay at Red Canary?

Being constantly challenged and reminded of the importance of the work we do. Day in and day out, we make a difference for organizations of all sizes and ensure they stay focused on their mission. Everyone I work with is paddling in the same direction to deliver on this outcome which makes it super easy to come into work everyday.

Lastly, and most importantly, what is your favorite memory of working at Red Canary, and favorite piece of Red Canary gear?

I have two favorite memories. Closing my first Enterprise deal and beating Dino Bellumori in ping pong for the first time. As for gear, the iconic Red Bird shirt.

Founded to create a world where every organization can make its greatest impact without fear of cyber attack, Red Canary is completely changing the way security is delivered. If our mission resonates with you, check out our open roles today!
