Get Your Resume Through ATSs More Often By Killing Your Cover Letter

Still sending cover letters? You might want to think twice about that ...

Cover letters keep your resume from getting through Applicant Tracking Systems, and are viewed as a distraction by most hiring managers, recruiters and HR reps.

That's good news for those of you who hate cover letters.

But for those of you who are still sending cover letters here's why they don't play well with ATSs:

  • ATSs Rarely Keyword Search Cover Letters: Based on my interviews with CEOs and VPs of the top ATS companies, these execs all admitted that their clients rarely set up their ATS to keyword search more than a single document ... and that document is your resume. The information you include on a cover letter is rarely included on your resume (since repetitive information would make you look bad if anyone bothered to read your cover letter), so it isn't keyword searched.
  • Employers View Cover Letters As A Distraction That Cause You To Lose Opportunities: 97% of employers say that cover letters hurt you, rather than help. Most hiring managers, recruiters and HR reps make their decision to give (or recommend you for) an interview in an average 15 seconds - barely enough time to do a quick skim of your resume. When you include a cover letter, you give your reader a choice to read the document that 97% believe is "seller's fluff" and that doesn't contain your features/benefits.

Sometimes, cover letters are requested/required, but there's a better solution than a cover letter that works against you.

I can show you how to make your resume get through and around Applicant Tracking Systems and give you other ways to ATS-proof your resume.

Why not let me show you resume/job search strategies to get you through/around the ATS more often, get more interviews, and find a great job fast? While we're at it, let me teach you how to accelerate your search so much, you can find a great next job fast, even if you're unemployed, over 40, or have other tough job search issues.

This is the 3rd recession and recovery I've recruited/coached through, so I've seen first hand what resume and job search strategies succeed for job seekers during the toughest job markets. I've also seen mistakes candidates make, causing their job searches to fail. I've been through this before and know what works and what doesn't.

That's why numerous job seekers who work with me have already gotten job offers every week since mid-March 2020.

As a top national recruiter who reads hundreds of resumes per day, who has helped hundreds of thousands of candidates in their job search, and seen thousands of employers' job search processes from the inside, I've got a different perspective than most career coaches.

I see that most job seekers do essentially the same things, even when they think they are job searching differently. I also see most job seekers were taught search methods that eliminate them from consideration, because they conflict with the employer's hiring process.

But I've been teaching job seekers to accelerate their job searches for 14 years by using non-traditional resume/job search strategies that demonstrate impact rather than just being average. I'll show you how to accelerate your job search so you can find a job fast by understanding employers' point of view and hiring processes ... and using this understanding to beat your competition.

(I'm not just a career coach. I've also been a top national recruiter for the last 17 years ... so you'll get advice from an insider's point of view.)

Let me show you what you can do now to change your job search and resume so you can find a job fast, even if you're between jobs, over 40, trying to change careers/industry/location, if your industry is in decline/consolidation, trying to overcome long term career gaps, family leave, find a remote job, turnaround your job search or other tough to solve job search problems.
