Alright...Here we go.

Give Yourself A Minute

First, a quick thanks to everyone who reached out about my family and I having covid. I appreciate it. We’re all fine, fully recovered and back at it.

We’re just nine days into the new year and I don’t know about you but I’m already a bit overwhelmed.

I got hired to give a keynote later this month and on the pre-call with the client we got to talking about the theme of Time Well Spent and more specifically "If you were given one minute a day…How would you use it?"

It reminded me that rather than trying to constantly DO more, that I should strive to simply BE more. And that in order to BE more that it’s consistency that I need to DO more of.

Are you following?

We overestimate what we can do in a day. And we significantly underestimate what we can do a year.

Imagine if you did one minutes worth of push ups every day for 365 days, how much healthier you would be.

That if you took one minute a day to write a note, send a text or email of appreciation to somebody in your life how much broader your network and deeper your relationships could be.

Consider how much compound interest you would generate with that type of consistency.

365 minutes…Now put it back in perspective.

Doing 365 minutes of push-ups or talking to my mom on the phone for 365 minutes sounds like a lot.

Seems insurmountable actually…

However, not doing one minute almost actually makes you feel guilty like "of course I can do that".

And you can.

Now can you do it every day?

If you operate with intention, with purpose, process and payoff it's the little things.

It's the daily habits.

It's the simple positive action steps that you can take that add up to big life changes.

And simple does not mean easy.

Simple is hard.

One minute of push ups is hard.

One minute of breathing. Opening up your mind and just allowing yourself to breathe, decompress and relax is hard.

One Minute in cold water is hard…

One minute to meditate and shut yourself off from the rest of the world and give yourself something back that you need in your head and your heart…is challenging.

But it is also doable.

It is also possible.

It is also highly probable for each and every one of you. .

To take one minute out of your day.

Set that timer and change your mindset, lean into the moment and ultimately change your life.

Consistency is the great equalizer. You don’t have to be the best. You don’t have to be the most talented. You just have to be consistent.

Now you may think I’m overstating the value, importance or impact one minute can make, but taking one minute a day to tackle one task encourages you to pursue your goals and change the lives of others for the better by showing that success is a combination of individual willpower and mutual support.

Regardless of what your goals are; health, professional advancement, personal connection, financial security and responsibility, eating better, family closeness…big goals look great on paper but it’s the little wins that keep you going.

Time is a quantifiable element that we are all too familiar with.

Time is the one commodity that we cannot make more of so we must make the most of the time that we have.

So take that minute.

Every day.

You deserve it.

You can do it.

You can be it.

The Midlife Male Podcast is where I share my experiences and invite some of the most successful men I know to do the same.

It’s a movement to redefine middle age from the crisis most of us think it is to a time when things get richer because of the experiences we’ve had leading up to this point in our lives.

NEW episodes of the podcast are released every week. Click HERE to listen and subscribe.

Three Things I'm into

The 80/80 Marriage - I love this book! A new model for balancing career, family, and love. The 80/80 Marriage pushes couples beyond the limited idea of "fairness" toward a new model grounded on radical generosity and shared success, one that calls for each partner to contribute 80 percent to build the strongest possible relationship. Drawing from more than one hundred interviews with couples from all walks of life, stories from business and pop culture, scientific studies, and ancient philosophical insights, husband-and-wife team Nate and Kaley Klemp pinpoint exactly what’s not working in modern marriage. Their 80/80 model of marriage provides practical, powerful solutions to transform your relationship and open up space for greater love and connection.

Oculus Quest 2 - Ok, this is awesome. Kate bought two of them for the boys and now I'm hooked. Hundreds of hit games, one-of-a-kind experiences, live events, new ways to stay fit and a growing community of users await you on Quest 2. It's the ultimate Virtual Reality Headset.

Chirp Wheel - Say goodbye to back pain with the Chirp Wheel+ 3 Pack. Three different sized wheels for optimal back pain relief and muscle recovery. The 12" Gentle delivers a wonderful stretch and light massage, the 10" Firm adds a little more pressure to help you massage those problem areas along the spine, and the 6" Deep Tissue digs in deep to get rid of your toughest knots. I use this daily!

The brands and partners I truly believe in are on my SPECIAL OFFERS page. If & when you're gonna buy, this is where I spend my money and have seen results. I talk and write about the same stuff constantly because it works and because they all fit the three principles above. I encourage you to support them as well.
