Google is Awesome!

Google is awesome. Recently, we made the decision to go to Google Business to have our email, calendars, etc. We needed to go in and change our domain to represent this change, so it would match up with our email services. It was, needless to say, frustrating, as I had never done this before. I was unaware that Google provided phone support, and I have to tell you, I was blown away. I was on the phone with a gentleman from Ecuador named Edwardo who kept saying to me, "Tim, don't worry about it. We'll have you up and running in 10 to 15 minutes. I promise you." He proceeded to use the Google tools to support me. He quickly used Google hangout to look at my screen to walk me through the process. It was really cool to see him use that tool and then he proceeded to say "Tim, if at the end you like me to show you more with that I'd be happy to" when that was not even the objective of the call but he was still offering to assist me. Amazing! He walked me through the process, set up my email in as little as 10 minutes, and mapped everything to our DNS server.

I was relieved, but more than anything, I ended up enjoying the conversation. He was friendly, warm, funny, and extremely supportive. At our office, we have a fun thing we do as we always say, "Giddyup," from the show Seinfeld when something good happens. So, at the end of my phone call, I said to him, "Giddyup, Eduardo." About 10 minutes later, I received an email summarizing what he had done for me and to make himself available anytime I had challenges or support needs. As I read his email, I was blown away and then stunned as he signed it, "Giddyup, Eduardo."

We think of Google as this tech company with really really smart people but I'm not sure we give the company credit as I found it to be an extremely warm, supportive, and friendly company deeply committed to its customers. A lesson for all of us to not rest on the merits of our product or service!
