Green Growth AgriHack Uganda 2024|Meet the Winners Transforming Sustainable Agriculture!

The Green Growth AgriHack Uganda 2024 was a weekend packed with innovation, collaboration, and visionary thinking as innovators, developers, and industry experts came together to tackle some of the most pressing challenges in agriculture.

The focus of this 48-hour hackathon? To develop practical digital solutions that not only enhance eco-friendly farming practices but also address critical issues like climate resilience, food security, and sustainable resource management.

This year’s theme, “Green Growth,” resonated throughout the event, with teams working tirelessly to craft ideas that will shape the future of sustainable agriculture. From smart irrigation systems to market access platforms, the solutions developed over this intense weekend demonstrated the power of technology to drive eco-friendly farming practices, improve market stability, and ensure a sustainable future for the agricultural sector.

And the Winners Are…After 48 hours of brainstorming, prototyping, and mentorship, we are thrilled to announce the winners of the GreenGrowth AgriHack Uganda 2024!

🏆 GrinTech emerged as the overall winner with their Solar-Powered Smart Food Dehydrator, a solution designed to reduce post-harvest food loss using solar energy and smart sensors to monitor optimal drying conditions.

MicroVest and HyMonitor earned tickets to the prestigious Latitude 59 event in Nairobi, where they will showcase their cutting-edge solutions to a global audience.

MicroVest developed a web platform connecting small farmers to better market prices and financial services.

HyMonitor introduced a storage management system that helps farmers monitor conditions to prevent crop spoilage.

The People’s Choice Award went to Harvest Link, a project that received overwhelming support from participants for its outstanding approach to sustainable farming.

Additional teams securing spots in our upcoming bootcamp to refine their solutions include:

AgriLink: A USSD & SMS-based platform delivering vital market, weather, and farming best practices to rural farmers.

Hydroponics: A system designed to fight malnutrition by enabling small farmers to grow fresh, nutritious food with water-efficient methods.

Eco Flash Dryer: A cassava drying technology powered by cassava waste, offering a cost-effective and eco-friendly solution.

Farm Quest: An AI-powered platform that gamifies farming to engage young people in sustainable agriculture through educational tools.

This hackathon has once again proven that with the right platform and resources, talented innovators can develop solutions that have a lasting impact on agriculture and sustainability. The top teams will now join our accelerator program and bootcamp to take their ideas to the next level and scale their innovations across Uganda and beyond.
