Growing Technological Advancement Fuelling the Weather Forecasting Systems Solution Market

The Weather Network has gone through significant changes over the past three decades. However, it is no brainer that the most effective and most significant changes have occurred in the technology that is used to forecast the weather. Weather Forecasting is a complicated subject; it takes years for an individual to understand the science behind the weather. Several factors like the atmosphere's dynamic motion, the connection between temperature and humidity are relative when it comes to forecasting. After doing all this, one also needs to comprehend how all these factors might add up to produce storms, rainfall, snowfall, etc. The traditional understanding of the concepts is similar to what used to be years ago, but what has changed in the tools and technologies used to track weather, diagnose the possibility of severe weather, develop the forecast, and simultaneously communicate the public's risks.

Weather Forecasting Systems Solution Market has experienced significant advancement through the years, so much, that how the weather was forecasted has changed considerably. “Radar” was present in 18 weather stations in Canada 18 years ago and has come a long way since. Doppler radar was introduced, which enables severe weather forecasting as it can give out forecasts based on the movement of precipitation inside a storm. Also, tracking such small gestures and the more significant tendency of the storm between sweeps of the radar beam helps forecasters chase tornados.

Through the years, Canada’s Radar System has reached to all costs with a real coming of 31 stations that are collectively capable of tracking storm systems across several canning fields. Now, a new method by the name ‘dual polarization’ has been added to the industry. It can provide information on different types of hydrometeors falling through the sky, like snowflakes, ice pellets, raindrops or hailstones, etc.

In the year 1989, GOES-7 (Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite 7) was the most advanced technology to provide a full-disk image of the western hemisphere. Its high-resolution visible image gave us the view of Earth at a scale of around one sq. Km per pixel. Since then, new satellites have been added; more data can be gathered with full-disk Earth images every 15 minutes apart. In between 2017 and 2018, the 4th generation of GOES-16 and GOES-17 took over. Now we can get pictures that are four times better than what the older satellites could send out.

Weather forecasting also relies heavily on computer-generated weather models. One can see a significant advancement in the sector of computers in the last three decades. Earlier, the most powerful supercomputer was Cray Y-MP. However, today any smartphone is much more potent than that. Supercomputers that are used to make weather models today are a million times faster than Cray Y-MP.

These are only some of the several improvements that have occurred in the weather industry, and there has been significant progress in the communication sector as well. These constant developments have changed the industry's face irrevocably and made it much more efficient than it was before.
