Happy International Women’s Day

Happy International Women’s Day

This significant day is vital in today’s society as we celebrate achievements of women globally.

The following comment summed up the wonderful time we spent together this morning as Voices of Change, a collaboration of Business Engage , EOH, Pfizer, AngloGold Ashanti, Accenture, Kearney, Life Healthcare, Nedbank, BMW and Vodacom.

"So many AMAZING speakers today!! What a Privilege!!! Thank you so much!! You touched our Hearts!"

Andrea Mason, founder of Lady Talk Matters, an NGO that provides necessary support and education around women’s health.  Placing the spotlight on her extraordinary life journey serves as a testament to resilience, determination, and the belief that everyone can “create their own Epic.”  Andrea believes that as a society we must celebrate our differences, be diverse and work towards a more inclusive world for all.  Andrea’s courage has helped women address key health issues that affect them and one of them was around menstruation and endometriosis. “Many kids are not taught about periods at all, the social stigma is deeply rooted and is missed out in schools, many parents, are not comfortable about it and assume the school is responsible for it.  It is not just children that are impacted but also adults. Young boys must be taught empathy from a young age. We need to have education and remove the taboo”.   See

Evelyn Ngatia, a guest speaker from Kenya making an incredible contribution in the world of tech has urged people to take care of their mental health, address abuse by seeking professional help. “When I grew up my father was strict and harsh. I feared doing the wrong things in life which was traumatic. When we are facing problems, we tend to ignore them”. With 23 % of women involved in the tech space, Evelyn has urged women to be represented and empowered from both men and women. “The world of technology is male dominated.  Role models and mentors are needed.  We need men as allies to help us bridge the gap of women in technology and women as role models”.

Taryn-lee Kearney, spoke on Finding Strength in Unity: Building Powerful Connection. Taryn-lee is an industrial psychologist and she touched on the importance of success, intangible wealth, and the strength of unity by making reference to emerging growing economies in countries like Ghana and Ethiopia where employment and unity have grown the respective country’s GDPs. “ Don’t see competition as a threat , but see collaboration and co-creation. You have the power to change the world and that is strength.”

The Voices of Change theme– She, He, We, is Power – has a strong message: to harness the power of diversity, collective effort is needed. It refers to the collective power—of women and men—that is now needed to build a more powerful, economically inclusive future. The future relies on collaboration – the theme emphasises that we are more powerful when we stand together in unity. It is only by joining forces to support gender equality, by ‘she’ and ‘he’ becoming ‘we’, that outdated systems will transform.
