Happy teachers day.....
"Guru" and "teacher" are two terms often used to describe individuals who impart knowledge, guidance, and wisdom to others, but they are typically associated with different cultural and philosophical contexts. A true guru helps you unlearn the thing which is causing challenges and problems in your life by transforming your personality and decision making and makes you a transform human being, a better version of your oneself. And once you become a transformed person you have the capability and opportunity to operate from your awareness and wisdom to experience bliss in your life.
On this occasion of Teachers Day, I would like to have my sincere gratitude to all teachers and gurus in my life. Happy Teachers Day.
Here are some of my distinct observations relating to a Guru and teacher. A true coach is a guru who helps you become a better person and help resolve your life, job, career, business and relationship challenges where you can experience fulfilment and satisfaction in your life what you do and wherever you are.
Cultural and Historical Context:
The term "guru" originates from Indian culture and has deep roots in sanatan wisdom Hinduism, Buddhism, and other Indian spiritual traditions. In these traditions, a guru is not only an educator but also a spiritual guide, coach and mentor. Gurus are often revered and considered spiritually enlightened person.
Whereas the term "teacher" is more generic and widespread. It is used in various cultures and educational systems around the world. A teacher is typically associated with formal education and the transmission of knowledge and skills in academic or practical subjects.
Role and Relationship:
The relationship between a guru and their disciples (often referred to as "shishyas") is characterized by deep respect, devotion, and sometimes even a spiritual bond. Gurus are seen as spiritual leaders who guide their followers not only in academic or practical matters but also in matters of personal growth and enlightenment.
Whereas a teacher-student relationship is generally more formal and focused on the academic or practical aspects of education. While teachers can have a significant impact on their students' lives, the relationship may not necessarily extend to inner transformation, spiritual and personal guidance.
Goals and Philosophy:

Gurus often have a broader goal of leading their disciples toward self-realization, inner transformation, and spiritual awakening. Their teachings may encompass not only intellectual knowledge and skills but also moral and ethical guidance.
On the other hand, teachers primarily aim to impart specific knowledge, skills, and information related to a particular subject or field of study. Their role is often limited to providing instruction and facilitating learning in a specific academic or vocational context.
Reverence and Worship:
In Indian traditions, gurus are revered to the extent that they are considered divine figure like God, because we believe that it is the guru who had empowered us to become whatever we have become in our life and even introduce us to the supreme wisdom to get transformed and enlightened. And we worship our guru and seeking blessings from the guru very often.
While teachers are respected for their expertise and dedication, they are not typically the subject of worship or religious devotion in the same way gurus can be.
It's important to understand that these distinctions are not absolute, and there can be overlap between the roles of a guru and a teacher, especially in contemporary educational settings that incorporate elements of Coaching, mentorship and personal development where a coach and mentor is also respected as a Guru.
