Hard Times Are Just a Season

Hard Times Are Just a Season

Try as I might, I can't catch a break lately.

We are closing on our new house on Monday it seems like every time I check my email, there's another 'situation' to be handled.

Our current home isn't sold yet -- and has only had one showing.

To add even more to our plate, we are losing our 13 year old dog, Romeo, this week too.

There's more, but I think you get the idea.

It feels like I'm walking into the ocean and the waves keep knocking me back.

It is definitely NOT smooth sailing around here.

It would be so easy to let my stress levels rise and get the best of me, but I'm trying really hard not to.

That would do more harm than good.

Weathering the storm IS hard, but it's not impossible (even though it feels like it is).

If you are going through a hard time too, I want to share three things that are helping me get through mine just in case they can help you too:

Remember hard times are just a season. Hard times come, but they always leave. They do not last forever. Winter is always followed by spring. Guaranteed.

Look for the lesson. Hard times are always trying to teach me something. I think this particular one I'm in is trying to teach me patience and living in the moment, lessons I often forget. What is yours trying to teach you?

Stay focused on the positive outcome you want. I'm a true believer that where your attention goes, your energy flows. Try not to fixate on what's not working because that will just bring more mess and mischief to your life. Spend time thinking about life after the storm.

I've been asking myself one of my favorite questions lately -- How can this be easy?

Turns out that aside from following these three suggestions, I'm learning to let go of the hard and just let it be.

It will all work out eventually exactly the way it is supposed to.

Getting all graspy around the outcome is only going to create more angst and anxiety and I don't need or want that.

I'm choosing easy.

Will you choose it with me?

Bless you for being vulnerable and for putting this out there! I too have struggled lately on several levels and reading this reminded me that hard times will come, but they will also always go! Thank you my friend, I appreciate you!

This is exceptional writing, Ms. Jen! "I feel like I'm walking into the ocean and the waves keep knocking me back", and "hard times are just a season" are phrases I just want to steal! Well done! Thank you so much for putting this out there.
