The hardest thing in life to learn is to lose. Winning is easy. It's your ability to take a loss and keep going that will define your success.

National Alzheimer's Disease Awareness Month

National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month is important because it provides a platform to raise awareness and understanding of the disease.

Did you know...

...that more than 5 million Americans suffer from Alzheimer's Disease (AD)?

AD is the 6th leading cause of death in the US.

AD is the most common form of dementia in 60-80% of all diagnosed cases.

I'm sure you know someone who has to deal with this cruel disease. Maybe you are dealing with this personally.

When providing care for someone long term, it usually means feeding them, helping with personal care, bathing them, and helping with other daily tasks.

Here is something to think about...

When symptoms are fully apparent, people with AD may only live an average of eight years, but some can survive up to 20 years, depending on their overall health.

Alzheimer's disease is the largest contributor to people needing long-term care.

What can you do today?

Show that you love the elderly. Compassion and empathy will never grow old. Everyone loves grandparents! Treat the elderly just like you would want someone to treat your parents or grandparents. Don't make them feel that they are losing their dignity!

Raise awareness about Alzheimer's Disease and acknowledge anyone you know serving as a caregiver. The more we understand the emotional, physical, and economic toll that AD care can take on loved ones, the more we can prepare for our own future. None of us want to become a burden to the people we love the most.

Prepare your family by looking into getting long-term care insurance. Rather than having a family member come and take care of you, a nurse would come to take care of you every day. If you do not have insurance, you will likely pay around $140,000 out of pocket on average.

Remember, our loved ones are not going to get better.

When symptoms are fully apparent, people with AD may only live an average of eight years, but some can survive up to 20 years, depending on their overall health.

Consumers have stayed resilient in recent months, but more than 8 in 10 say they’re planning to be more cautious with their spending. Eating and drinking places posted total sales of $89.5B on a seasonally adjusted basis in October, according to early data from the U.S. Census Bureau. That’s up 1.6% from September’s upwardly revised $88.1B—and represents the 3rd consecutive monthly sales gain. Read the analysis.
