Is Heat accessible from EFW? - you can now find out more
Well done the EFW sector for coming forward with the EFW directory - registration link below.
There is a massive amount of heat that is accessible from existing EFW operations across the UK, this interactive map shares what is available and the relationships / ownership of the EFW operation.
Brilliant to see such sharing from the sector.
Each kw of heat we can utilise from EFW offsets the need to import gas - and today its clear that not just a climate change solution.
Well done ESA, all the members who contributed and in particular Richard Johnson from Veolia for making this happen.

2yGreat to see this published earlier this week, hopefully it will lead to increased utilisation of low carbon waste heat.

2yIt’s an excellent directory. Worth noting that the heat doesn’t have to be made available at 70C or 80C. It’s quite easily to boost it up with a heat pump. And of course that heat pump could be “behind the meter” so charges are approx £50/MWh.
