Offshore Wind in Poland

Had the pleasure in being in Poland last week, to hear more about Polish offshore wind aspiration alongside a small Uk delegation.

The above picture reflects the key learning for me.

Thats is that Baltyk III and II (Polen / Equinor projects) have secured what appears to be all the necessary consents / requirements to progress.

Baltica 3 and 2 (PGE), Baltic II (BTI) and Baltic Power (Orlen) are not far behind, with others seeking the necessary approval / grid etc.

That totals to over 5GW of potential projects either through or almost through the approval process, with grid online (or waiting on it).

I was very impressed that the industry seemed to be measured (or at least those I spoke too) and looking for the first likely commissioning to happen in 2026 rather than promoting undeliverable aspirations of up and running in 2021/22 etc. Seems to me that they appreciate the challenge and are carefully planning on delivering it appropriately.
