Here’s why job hoppers hop

Us millennials have been tagged as the “job hopping generation” and I totally agree with that. Personally, I have worked for so many companies that I have lost count of them already. Before graduating from the university I’ve worked as an assistant fashion stylist. Afterwards, I worked for a non-profit organisation whilst being a research assistant for a few months (talk about time management!) and I did some teaching gigs, too. It’s not until 2015 that I answered my calling as a Fairy Job Brother (yes, I’m claiming this now) when I started working in #RecruitmentMarketing.

Job hopping is real. Job hopping is when you move from one job to another and these jobs are not, in any way, related and/or alike. It’s when you’re trying to find your ground. But when I discovered my passion for recruiting, why did I still move from one company to another? The answer is I’m a “(job) culture hopper”.

As a culture hopper, I want to discover my purpose. I left my previous companies because of lack of growth, the absence of mentorship, and unfair pay and compensation. I despise weak leadership that does not stretch me and my expertise. As a job seeker, I wouldn’t find out about these things not until I was in the job already.

Finding a home with TTEC has been easy, all thanks to Avenessa and Vicki who took a chance on me. I discovered so many things about myself that I haven’t tapped into. More than finding a job, I found a safe environment where my ideas are not trashed and where innovations are welcome. When work becomes part of your life, work does not become a 9-5 routine or just a means to pay for the bills. It becomes a passion. It turns into a calling. It gives you an assurance that better days are coming. #IAmFromTTEC #ExperienceTTEC
