The middle market and lower middle market represent the broadest spectrum of acquirers of businesses - From Fortune 500 strategics down to small family offices and individual entrepreneurs, understanding how each type of acquirer evaluates a business is a key part of understanding the broader M&A ecosystem.

We were fortunate to have a friend of the firm Daniel Tagliatela join us this week, and discuss his experience in successfully acquiring, operating, and growing a portfolio of businesses.

In part two of our discussion with Daniel Tagliatela, we dig further into not only the process of evaluating and acquiring a business, but the mindset, persistence, and approach necessary to push through the challenges that come along the journey.

Most progress looks like a straight line of growth when in the rear view mirror, however, very few if any paths upward every really evolve this way.

Strong character or an easy journey - From our experience in business and those we work with on a daily basis, we still don't believe you can have both.

In the final part of our discussion, we look at a bit more of the qualitative components of business ownership - the 'chewing of glass' if you will that comes along with the challenges, and the breakthroughs and momentum that come along with the successes.

There are many paths to success and we want to highlight them where we can shed light on the acquisition, management, and operations perspectives of both buyers and sellers that we work with.

To borrow a quote, "if the path before you is clear, you're probably on someone else's"
