History continues to repeat itself...
A few weeks ago, along with our VBA provider and another party, we have assisted with the repatriation of a group of MSOs who had been abandoned by the PMSC they were working for. This is not new to this industry and one of the consequences of rock bottom rates and unscrupulous individuals who care more about their profits rather than the safety and security of their staff and the seafarers they are called to protect.
Although this can be expected from companies that survive on a debt-based basis, it makes me feel sick how the greediness of a few can go so far as to depriving some workers of their basic human rights. These companies are a plague to this industry and personally make me wonder the effectiveness of the “certifications” out there if these behaviors are indeed disregarded and allowed.
We at Praesidium International have always valued our people. Without them, without their dedication, their passion, their will to do better day after day, we wouldn’t be where we are today. I am proud to say that our men are passionate about our project above all, and this makes all the difference for us and for our clients.
Since the inception of the company, we have gone above and beyond the applicable Italian law requirements in many areas including when it comes to security personnel welfare packages. As a matter of fact, again all our personnel will be benefitting from a suppletory medical care package following our recent extension of the agreement with Sanimpresa for 2021-22.
