How EU's political shift will affect renewables, making cement decarbonization work

How EU's political shift will affect renewables, making cement decarbonization work

The latest issue of PES Wind features an interview with Hitachi Energy execs Laura Fleming and Alfredo Parres, which offers insight into how the company is working to meet net zero targets, specifically in the UK. But with EU elections shifting politics to the right, is Europe's New Green Deal doomed?

Philip Totaro  says nobody knows what's going to happen - and that uncertainty could cause problems for companies across Europe, including LM Wind Power and others, both large and small.

While different countries take different approaches to financing their energy transitions, Rosemary Barnes explains that emerging technologies from companies like Australia’s Calix Limited and and Nova Scotia's CarbonCure Technologies  can reduce costs associated with decarbonizing cement production. Methods vary from improving production methods and project specifications to using new materials.

An upcoming Engineering with Rosie episode will feature a tour of the Calix facility. Watch for it! And if the mere mention of Purple Skies Wind Energy project has you humming your favorite Prince tune, that might not be an accident. But that's not exactly why the Invenergy  project is our Wind Farm of the Week. Located south of Marshall, Minnesota, near the reliably windy Buffalo Ridge, the development aims to reach a capacity of 1000MW. Click on the links below to get straight to the stories that we cover in our latest episode. Catch up with us in person at a trade show or reach out to share your thoughts or to ask questions about these topics and other issues in wind energy.
