How to Find a Trusted Advisor to Reverse Type 2 Diabetes

How to Find a Trusted Advisor to Reverse Type 2 Diabetes

Have you ever seen a pheasant in the middle of a country road? One that’s alive.

I have. Many times. I live in the countryside. IF they’re alive, here’s how they typically behave.

You see the pheasants either alone or with 2 or 3 of its friends at the side of the road pecking away at something. Then they hear your car coming. They quickly dart to the left. Then, suddenly dart to the right. Then, quickly to the left again.

Frequently, they run across the road. The confusion, indecision, and hesitation fast-tracks many of these gorgeous birds straight to pheasant heaven.

Imagine owning a growing business with an amazing team working for you. You would not be growing your team without clarity, decisiveness and action about what your business is about. Moreover, your trust in yourself and in your team is the key to your success.

BUT when it comes to health, why do so many great people fall apart?

People with type 2 diabetes are often left confused. They either receive too much information or too little information about how to deal with this chronic disease. Then, there is the problem of experts giving conflicting advice. Whose information do you trust? In fact, who do you trust to help you?

If you’ve been diagnosed as having type 2 diabetes or pre-diabetes, here are 7 specific ways to help you build a trusted relationship with the diabetes specialist:

  1. Does the advisor actively listen to what you have to say about your health?
  2. Does the advisor make available, at least, 30 minutes to get to know your situation?
  3. Does he or she take more interest in you than himself or herself?
  4. Does the advisor ask you a lot of “why” questions to dig deep?
  5. Once they’ve heard you, are they generous with their knowledge in supporting you?
  6. Does the advisor happily admit, on occasion, when they don’t have the answer?
  7. Is your trusted advisor looking to build a long-term relationship with you?

How to establish if this diabetes specialist is right for you

Here are ways you can extrapolate whether THIS specialist is the best one for you to work with:

  • Be clear about what YOU want. Do you wish to manage OR would you choose to reverse type 2 diabetes? Go to the trusted advisor/specialist who will help you achieve your goal
  • What results has your advisor helped other clients? In this case, has this advisor helped other clients reverse type 2 diabetes?
  • Does the advisor answer my questions satisfactorily?
  • Do I resonate with the trusted advisor? Are we on the same wavelength?
  • Does my trusted advisor act as a consultant, coach and mentor?
  • Does my trusted advisor appear to live and breathe what he/she advocates?
  • Does my heart (intuition) say to trust this specialist?

Chronic diseases, especially type 2 diabetes, have become a part of your life over many years. The consequences of things going “wrong” are long-term and, sadly, can be very serious. Therefore, it is vital that you choose wisely from whom you take your advice, be that an individual or a team of experts.

As a specialist in reversing type 2 diabetes, I also have my own criteria for accepting clients. One of the big questions for me is: does this individual have what it takes to transform their health and, consequently, make a big difference to their own life?

A trusted relationship is built on three people. The trust between you and your advisor; and the trust between you and yourself.
