How INNELS Grew from an Idea to Helping 40+ Clients Scale on Amazon

How INNELS Grew from an Idea to Helping 40+ Clients Scale on Amazon

The Beginning

In 2018, while working at E-Invasion in Copenhagen (an e-commerce company selling fertility products), my main expertise was SEO. It was an area I found fascinating at the time, and I even considered starting an agency in this field. However, I quickly realized that SEO was an oversaturated market—so many companies offered SEO services, and you could do SEO for virtually any website in the world. There was no specific niche, and it was hard to identify a distinct target audience to work with.

The Recommendation

Around the same time, I started working with Amazon for E-Invasion’s products, the launch was great and I learned many things along the way. Amazon was interesting especially because in Denmark there weren’t many companies offering Amazon services.  Companies preferred to expand to the Nordics—Sweden and Norway—instead of exploring Amazon markets like the UK and Germany, which were geographically close but largely undiscovered as export channels. I saw an opportunity in that gap and began to evaluate the challenges and needs in the market.

While working at e-Invasion, I also collaborated with other brands that my boss brought in—mostly his friends who were entrepreneurs—to help them grow. These experiences allowed me to speak with different companies about their expectations of Amazon and learn more about the platform myself. During one lunch meeting, my boss asked - “why you don’t open an agency this way?”, and then told me a few models of what could be pricing strategies that would be sustainable for a service-based business.

The Opportunity

It became clear to me that Amazon was a space with untapped potential, and I got increasingly interested in starting a business centered around it. I also realized that an agency model would be the fastest way to generate revenue and achieve profitability without needing upfront investment. This was a key advantage for me, as I wanted to start with minimal financial risk.

The Founding Team

But I soon realized something important: if you start alone, it feels more like freelancing than building a real company. I knew I needed a partner, someone I could grow with. I thought about a friend of mine Andrejs Klimovskis —he wasn’t the type to just go out for beers or parties; he was highly motivated and genuinely interested in my career. He used to meet up with me just to ask how my SEO journey was going, and when I was already contemplating Amazon, he happened to call me. He asked for advice, saying he was looking for an internship but wasn’t sure where to apply or what company to choose.

I offered him a different idea: “How about doing an internship at your own company? Start a company with me, and I’ll teach you how to sell on Amazon. But first, we need to bring in clients. What do you think?” He was excited by the idea, and by January 2019, we had already registered our business officially. We signed our first contract (shareholder agreement) in a McDonald’s 😀, and that’s how INNELS was born. The name stands for “Innovative Channels,” and it reflects the spirit of what we wanted to achieve.

We started with the basics—figuring out our value proposition, understanding the market, and identifying exactly how we could stand out. We were very specific about our target audience, focusing not just on e-commerce brands in general but defining exactly what kind of products would fit best on Amazon. We analyzed factors like price point, weight, and category to ensure we knew precisely what kind of clients we wanted to attract. It was an excellent exercise that helped us refine our strategy.

Support and Developments

We also enrolled at CSE (Copenhagen School of Entrepreneurship), which turned out to be a great support system. They provided us with free legal help, advisors, and mentors, which was incredibly valuable in those early stages. Leveraging that knowledge and support, we managed to lay a solid foundation for INNELS and start building something that truly mattered.

Here is my first INNELS pitch back then to CSE incubator members.

The Present

Today, INNELS stands as a full-service Amazon agency, proud to have supported over 40 clients—ranging from big brands to smaller projects—with tailored solutions that drive real impact. Last year alone, we generated €4.5M in revenue, a result of our commitment to growth and strategic market expansion. We've broadened our reach, selling in 14 countries across multiple categories, and built a talented team of 10 professionals who bring expertise and passion to every client project.

The Community

At INNELS , we believe in building more than just a business. That’s why we launched Amazon Blueprint, a free community for sellers and brand owners to connect, learn, and grow. Inside, we share valuable insights, conduct ASIN reviews, host weekly Q&As, and provide a wealth of Amazon resources, including seller modules designed to enhance performance.
