We have collaborated with the organisation to help it realise essential operational efficiencies, including significant energy savings, and have partnered with Singrow’s technical team to ensure sustainable operations augment the use of precious and costly resources such as water and power.
The results are clear to see. Our control technology, visualisation tools and system connectivity which oversees the essential irrigation, lighting, and ventilation functions, have helped deliver a significant 40% reduction in energy savings.
This has been achieved due to our digital multimedia valve technology, intelligent temperature, and light intensity sensors, as well as real time data acquisition, providing visualisation and connected system control management. It is creating informed feedback on which operational decisions are based and efficiencies delivered.
Critical processes such as energy use and water consumption are being continually monitored, controlled, and resource use optimised within the growing chambers so only the relevant level of resource is continually deployed, and any potential waste removed from the operation.

Strawberry crops need constant access to water and nutrients, and our accurate and reliable valve control ensures only the specified volume of water and nutrients is supplied and its provision is automated for use at specific times across a 24-hour period.
With light also needed to encourage and support crop growth, Norgren’s holistic control system automates the delivery of light into the growing areas and ensures the light source is switched off when not required – saving energy consumption and cost.
Ventilation control is another important part of the intelligence-based system. It provides overall control of temperature and air flows into the critical growing areas, always ensuring a standardised flow rate and adjusting the temperature to account for heating or cooling needs.
Automated connectivity control ensures the availability of real-time, intelligence-based data acquisition to inform Singrow’s decision-making.
The portfolio of sensors in the system regularly acquire data for heat levels, light intensity and the light RGB ratio. This is then used to provide access to highly accurate measurements around temperature, power consumption, water volume use and the nutrient levels in the crop soils.
The constant data feedback loop enables the optimum conditions for a successful and productive yield to costs ratio to be achieved.
Finally, our automated control process can also be visualised from the convenience of a mobile device - meaning the Singrow ‘farm’ can effectively be managed on a remote basis.
