How To Win On Just 24 Hours A Day
Time is our most precious commodity…
And all you get is 24 hours a day.
Thats it. That's all you get, all I get, all any of us gets.
And you have to figure out how to win on those 24 hours…
How you’ve spent every second, every minute, and every hour up to this point has produced your life today.
Has your time produced your dream lifestyle?
You probably haven’t produced anything bad but most people are still going to answer this question with a resounding no.
I know I would have to.
A few months ago I was writing an email sequence for a client that specializes in diabetes…
As I was researching I noticed that I had a lot of diabetic symptoms.
My feet were always swollen…
My legs had strange bruises on them…
My body retained water…
And I had an extremely high weight gain.
Finding out that I had diabetic symptoms was eye-opening…
But really not surprising.
I had spent the last 2 years focusing solely on my business…
Sitting behind my desk every day…
Sometimes from early in the morning to late at night.
I knew that it was probably time to do something about my personal health but all I could think about was how much work I had to do.
I told myself that I just didn’t have the time.
This went on until about a month ago when I tried to put on my favorite pair of pants one morning…
Only to realize they didn’t fit anymore.
Later that day I was coming up the stairs and made it about halfway before I had to stop and catch my breath.
It was at this moment that I decided I was sick and tired of my personal health…
And I was done being overweight.
I went from not having time for my personal health to it becoming non-negotiable.
Now I plan all my meals in advance so that I can hit my macros…
I set aside a couple of hours every day for exercise…
And I make sure I get a good night's sleep.
This week makes 4 straight weeks with this new healthy lifestyle and I can tell you right now…
I will never live any other way.
Don’t get me wrong I still have a very long way to go to correct my health…
But I feel so much better already it’s incredible.

I learned a valuable lesson throughout this whole process.
When you have a problem with not getting something done…
It’s never a time or a money problem.
It’s always a priority problem.
In my 5 years as a copywriter, I can’t tell you how many people I’ve heard say they don’t have enough time…
Which is funny when you think about it because every highly successful entrepreneur out there has the same 24 hours that you do.
The secret to actually winning with just 24 hours is to block out periods of time in your schedule for your non-negotiables.
If you don’t have these pre-planned slots of time set aside for non-negotiables then you are just going to be spinning your wheels.
To avoid spinning your wheels use these 3 easy steps:
In this meeting, you should figure out what general things you have going on that day…
Like meetings, phone calls, meals, and planned breaks.
2. Make a list of your non-negotiables that need to be done that day.
This can include personal health things like the gym or a walk, mindset activities, marketing activities, projects for clients that have deadlines, etc.
Cap your non-negotiable list at a maximum of 5.
If there are things you don’t get done that day then just include them on your list for the next day.
3. Look for the holes in your schedule.
For example, tomorrow I have meetings at 10 A.M., 11 A.M., and 12 P.M….
My time slots for my non-negotiables are going to be from 8 A.M. when I start to 10 A.M. when I have my first meeting…
And then from 1 P.M. until 7 P.M. when I’m done for the night.
I’ll do my LinkedIn Networking from 8-10…
This is a non-negotiable that I do every day...
And then I’ll go to the gym from 1 P.M. to 3 P.M…
This leaves from 3 P.M. to 7 P.M. for me to get some client work done.
Here’s The Real Deal
If you feel like you don’t have enough time in the day…
Then you have a priority problem…
Not a time problem.
The best way to overcome this is to prioritize your days by having a planning meeting with yourself, making a list of your non-negotiables, and then looking for holes in your schedule to time block.
Do this and you will be surprised by the fact that you can win on just 24 hours a day.
Speaking about non-negotiables I better go.
We just got a foot of fresh snow and the Green Goats set a non-negotiable to turn the fainting goat into a snowman.
They have him tied to a post in the middle of the backyard right now and are starting to pack snow around him as we speak.
I better go stop them before they give that poor fainting goat hypothermia.
Remember, success is hammered out on the anvil of simply consistent daily activities.

1yI agree, Bobby! Thanks for sharing your personal experience. Our productivity isn't as much about the hours as it is prioritizing the non-negotiables. I, too, use time blocking and find it beneficial to accomplish more.

1yGreat read, Bobbie Lee. I like asking the question, what are the non-negotiables? I am stealing that.
