3 Things I Do That Goes AGAINST Most Expert Advice
I do a lot of things wrong in life and business.
Stuff most experts probably advise against.
Yet, I’m still pretty successful.
For example…
I don’t have a traditional morning routine
I don’t do the same thing when I get up every single morning.
The first thing I do when I roll out of bed is check my email.
If there’s a fire to put out early in the day I’ll have an email sitting in my inbox.
Then I put my phone away.
I slowly drink 30 ounces of water and then I switch to coffee.
I like the first hour of my day to be quiet…
Sometimes I go for a walk…
Sometimes I read…
I like to have options and not be stuck to a routine.
Most experts advise that you do a routine that includes meditation, reading, affirmations, and exercise every morning.
I tried a routine like this and kept it going for a good solid month…
But at the end of the month, it just didn’t work for me.
I find I have a better day when I do meditation in the middle of the afternoon…
This is when my brain normally needs a calming boost.
And I do better when I read right before bed…
Because it helps me let go of stress.
And I find that affirmations help me the most when I quietly repeat them several times a day…
Not just once in the morning.
And I usually go to the gym to work out between 11 and 1.
This is when the gym is normally the emptiest.
There is nothing wrong with a morning routine…
And if it works for you that’s great…
But it doesn’t for me.
Let’s jump to the second thing I do wrong…
I watch TV all day while I work
I’m not the type of person who can “sit in silence” while I work.
I have 6 kids and 3 dogs…
And I’m very used to the noise.
Is this a waste of time?
Probably…
But I like doing it.
And it helps my subconscious work.
I find that I write a lot better copy from the subconscious side of my brain when there is noise in the background.
Alright, last one…
I don’t wake up early
Back in 2020 when I tried the whole uber-productive morning routine…
I would also get up early.
Usually at 5:00 AM.
And truthfully even though I did this for a month straight…
It just didn’t work for me.
I was exhausted all day long.

I even tried to implement a 30-minute nap…
It didn’t help.
I think part of the problem was that in order to get enough sleep I needed to be in bed and asleep by 10 PM…
And this is virtually impossible with 4 teenagers.
They never sleep.
So I would go to bed late because they would keep me up…
And then get up early.
I would try to push through the day…
But it was just too hard on my body.
And it simply wasn’t compatible with my life.
Nowadays I get up around 7:30 AM.
And that works great for me.
So there ya go…
There’s a few things I do that experts advise against.
Now why did I share this with you?
Because while most expert advice will help you in life and business…
Not all of it will work for you.
The most important thing to remember is that you can do a lot of stuff wrong and still be successful.
The secret to success is just to get your needle movers right.
These needle movers consist of 3 things that you need to do every day to be successful.
Here’s The Real Deal
Most expert advice will help you in life and business…
But not all of it will work for you.
The most important thing to remember if you want to be successful is your needle movers…
They need to be done every day.
These include you time, marketing your business, and client work.
And most importantly don’t forget to be different.
Speaking about being different, I better go.
The Green Goats don’t listen to any expert advice…
Unless it comes to torturing that poor fainting goat.
And since today is the fainting goat's birthday…
The Green Goats decided that the fainting goat needed to be in his birthday suit.
They are currently out back in the shed with a pair of sheep shears getting ready to shave all of his fur off.
I better go stop them before that poor fainting goat is forced to run around naked.
Remember, if you focus on your needle movers and being different you’ll be successful.
