How Young Can A Mentor Be?

How Young Can A Mentor Be?

My 17-year-old daughter dreams of becoming a mentor to other girls.

Imagine your teenage daughter living a very popular high school life, sharing her dream of becoming a mentor for young girls with you. Well, this is what just happened to me when my daughter heard I was leaving for Uganda on November 15th to empower adolescent girls.

I smiled to hear my daughter's voice say, Mom, can I go with you?

Who wouldn't support a young girl's passion to make a difference?

I am writing this article because my daughter, Hannah Trainor, needs your support over the next few weeks so she can be a mentor to help change the lives of young girls. She is inspired to make a difference by experiencing how she can be a positive impact on these girls before they grow up too fast and support their understanding of better life decisions early on in their life.

For over 3 years I have invested my own time and money to make a difference when I aligned with an organization my heart could support. The organization I chose is called, Just Like My Child Foundation (read further for more info).

When I followed my heart and made the decision to help young girls before they become women it was because I understand girls require special guidance and assistance. As a parent, I know the high value a girl receives when she can learn about their bodies and personal rights at an early age.

In my mind, there is no age requirement when it comes to learning how to become a mentor to another. I was excited to hear my daughter's enthusiasm and her desire to help young girls learn about how to take care of their own bodies, manage money earned including the ability to understand innate rights granted to them and needed for a basic foundation of self-awareness before becoming a woman.

If you believe is it essential that young girls learn about self-love and self-empowerment, you can help today!

Help Hannah Change Young Girls Lives!

Help Fund Hannah

...to become a mentor for others!

Just Like My Child Foundation is an established organization with a mission to empower vulnerable adolescent girls by enabling them to create healthy, self-sustaining families who prosper without further aid.

They have found that every day in Uganda young girls face living in poverty, young marriages, young pregnancies, and limited educational opportunities. This is due to cultural traditions and social norms, the general poverty level of the country, and biases against girls' education overall.

When you help Hannah raise enough money, she will be gifted the opportunity to become a mentor for 8 days to work with young girls. Your support will fund Hannah to participate in workshops such as Girl Power and Developing Mentors, as well as camps, club sessions on topics such as, knowing your rights and how to defend them, financial literacy, and sexual and reproductive health.

Documented success rates with Just Like My Child Foundation has shown:

  • 92% of girls can explain how a girl or woman becomes pregnant
  • 81% of girls can identify risks of early marriage
  • 93% have a higher attitude regarding their self esteem
  • 62% of girls can identify that spousal abuse is not justified
  • 61% can identify bad touches
  • 38% can identify ways to protect herself from rape
  • 60% of girls can identity ways to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS

This powerful mission is to inform the girls that they deserve to be respected includes most importantly the discovery of their own self-worth, as well as, the beauty and power of self-confidence. These girls are transformed; empowered for their futures.

The knowledge Hannah has gained during her years as a teenager in the United States revolves around owning her own self-love, growing to understand and respect her body, as well as how to handle being in an unsafe position and get out of it safely.

“I feel my early experiences with the blessing of self-evolved parents has made me the ideal mentor for these young girls in Uganda. It would give me so much joy to pass on my experiences with this organization to impact girls in a positive and powerful way.

I know when we set our minds to do something designed to give back and stick to it, we can accomplish anything in life. I want the world for those girls, and for them to know they are on this planet for a reason, and if they have a passion, they can strive to reach it.

These girls are worth more than they realize... $7,000 will be donated to the girl's projects and $3,000 will be used for my round-trip Uganda airfare and participant fee.

Every little bit helps!”

Thank you in advance for funding me to be a mentor for others!
