We are excited to announce an excellent opportunity for an experienced Consultant Physician in Geriatric Medicine at Letterkenny University Hospital, County Donegal, Ireland. This position offers a permanent, pensionable, and whole-time contract for a passionate professional dedicated to the care of older patients.

Job Title: Consultant Physician in Geriatric Medicine

Location: Letterkenny, County Donegal, Ireland

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide an acute general medicine/geriatric medicine inpatient service.
  • Lead 2 specialist geriatric outpatient clinics per week at LUH.
  • Offer a specialist consult service in geriatric medicine.
  • Support the Clinical Nurse Specialist and Advanced Nurse Practitioner for older persons.
  • Work on integrated care hubs to improve patient care pathways.
  • Actively contribute to committees focused on older person services.

Qualifications & Experience Required:

  • Registration as a specialist in the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners in the specialties of geriatric medicine and general internal medicine.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and post-graduate qualifications.
  • A minimum of 1 year’s experience at Consultant level.
  • A demonstrated commitment to clinical leadership, improving patient care, and supporting multidisciplinary teams.

Salary & Benefits:

  • Annual Salary (based on experience): €226,681 - €272,290 (2023 Public Consultants' Contract).
  • Pensionable and permanent contract.
  • Incremental credit for prior Consultant experience.

  • Leadership: Strong leadership skills for supervising non-consultant hospital doctors and contributing to strategic service planning.

  • Innovation and Improvement: A commitment to service development and continuous improvement in healthcare delivery.
