Human capital remains crucial ! Why H.R. should be part of the recovery plan !

It was only a week ago since I wrote my first article about the state-of-mind of HR and the way companies and their HR would be able to make the difference in the near future and to survive COVID-19... or not.

I now would like to raise my voice and make my message clearer than ever. HR is a crucial part of the recovery process and will be as important as some other points to make the difference and to survive! Realize it and act towards it please!

It will not be about just making a difference in the future; I would rather call it: will they jump out of the water enabling them to take fresh air, fill their lungs and take this as a new start ; or will they try to breath as they are floating right now hoping to float for longer time… or will they get water in while breathing and start to sink slowly but surely. Honestly...the situation is currently worse than I thought it could ever be !

It’s been over a week now that I actively call companies as prospectors to launch our business again and the differences are really clear and visible while just listening to some of them. I am afraid I could tell you now already which companies will make it and which ones won’t!

“No Sir, we are not planning any additional staff right now” or…”Yes Sir we are thinking of making more people redundant to save costs”…”No Sir, surely no new hiring prior to 2021”…

Answers to questions I did not even ask, throwing facts that I would not even dare to know. Admitting to an unknown that they will make more people redundant, why would smart companies ever do that?

What is going on in an HR person’s mind to tell these kinds of things to unknown…have they lost their confidence in the company and its future already? Are they just a puppet on a string of bad management? Is the owner, CEO or MD that negatively minded that he has no clue any longer how to turn the tide?

I personally can’t help to turn management and MD’s or CEO’s to a new positive mind. I can’t re-inspire HR directors or others as I would love to do with all of them. But I can ring the bell and ask them to seriously look into the mirror and awake out of this negative moment. It is my duty to wake up most of the companies and to get into a new mood to get out of this negative moment asap.

And for sure I can help them out in their search for the new colleagues anywhere in the world they need them. Perhaps the right HR director should be the first option if you realize yours is not the perfect person to help turn the tide?
