Hypertec's Green Leadership: Leading the Way in Eco-Friendly Servers and Packaging
The data center industry is steadily growing. According to a recent report by Statista, revenue in the global servers' market is projected to reach US$95.65bn in 2024 and is expected to show an annual growth rate (CAGR 2024-2028) of 5.81%, resulting in a market volume of US$119.90bn by 2028.
This ongoing demand, driven by our ever-increasing consumption of data, fuels the expansion of data centers worldwide. As our reliance on digital services, HPC, and cloud computing intensifies, the need for robust, efficient, and scalable server infrastructure becomes essential. While this growth drives technological innovation, it also raises a very important question: How can we ensure that this progress aligns with our environmental responsibilities?
The future of technology demands innovation on all fronts, including environmental responsibility. That's why we're developing eco-friendly immersion-cooled servers and ensuring they ship with minimal environmental impact through sustainable packaging solutions.
The Challenge: Traditional Server Packaging Waste
Conventional server packaging often involves excessive use of cardboard boxes and plastic materials. With millions of servers shipped globally each year, this results in an enormous amount of waste. In fact, the world generated 62 million tons of electronic waste (e-waste) in 2022, equal to the weight of 107,000 of world’s largest (853-seat), heaviest (575 tons) passenger aircraft – enough to form a continuous line from New York to Athens or from Hong Kong to Alaska! A figure expected to reach 82 million tons by 2030.
Packaging significantly contributes to this figure, with containers and packaging making up a substantial portion of municipal solid waste. Cardboard and plastic packaging not only take up valuable landfill space but also have lengthy decomposition timelines, with plastic taking hundreds of years to break down.
Adding to the environmental concerns surrounding traditional packaging, the production of these materials consumes high amounts of resources and energy, further amplifying their environmental impact. The sheer volume of waste and the associated carbon footprint highlight the urgent need for more sustainable packaging solutions.

Collaboration for a Greener Future
We translate our commitment to sustainable packaging into real-world solutions through partnerships with industry leaders. A recent example involves DUG, a global provider of HPC solutions for the energy, scientific research, and financial services industries. We delivered a large shipment of immersion-born servers to their Houston facilities using our optimized packaging solution, meeting a tight two-month deadline.
A Collective Effort Toward Sustainability
Hypertec's sustainable packaging initiative demonstrates that real progress is achieved when all stakeholders benefit. By optimizing our packaging, we have not only reduced costs and delivered enhanced value to our customers but also made a positive impact on the environment. This collective success highlights that meaningful change happens when the advantages extend across the board—benefiting us, our clients, and the planet.

2wHypertec Group 🥶“FrostByte - Solid State Cooling Tech New start up Mobius Vortex can ELIMINATE the electricity required to cool a data center by 30-40% - this saving 30-40% of electricity costs (millions of dollars of savings) with their “FrostByte” SOLID STATE cooling technology. No liquids, no pumping, no HVAC! Also eliminates “THERMAL THROTTLING” which reduces chip performance (even NVIDIA has those issues which we can eradicate) Also massively saves on water!
