If I were in a church, I would do a 2 day workshop on Mark Nepo's book, SURVIVING STORMS. FROM PAGE 57: The courage, then is to keep leaning into life. Not because life is evil, but like swells in the ocean, the currents will push us to and fro. But we're stronger and more resilient than almost any hurt that can come our way ...................If we keep moving toward what is precious with a commitment to be caring and real"
I have endured a period of deep turmoil, and the practices of return have helped me navigate these rough waters by always guiding me back to my essence. However, it's crucial to establish these practices well before we're cast adrift.
I instruct couples in the following: When we lose sight of each other's value, we must engage in practices that allow us to recognize that value once more. These are known as Practices of Return.
The initial step is invariably to reconnect with one's own worth. From this foundation, we can then appreciate the worth in others.
Having been through a profound upheaval, the practices of return that I've conscientiously engaged in for the past 20 years have sustained me, and now I glimpse the shore... At this moment, I can continually affirm that I am the Sail, God is the Wind, and my boat is my spiritual understanding..
