TRY GIVING A SHIT
I've noticed how simply giving a shit makes a significant difference in work and life.
When you can actually put yourself in someone else's shoes, understand their circumstances and have empathy, I don't know if there is any greater reward then when someone says...
"I appreciate you."
You don't have to have an advanced degree or be an expert in your field to be a human being. Everyone's energy and time is valuable. As a recruiter, I'm ridiculously lucky to get to choose who I work with and the approach I take. Commitment, loyalty, trust, respect, and honesty aren't easy traits to come by and when I meet people and agencies who embody those elements, well -- they are usually stuck with me for quite some time. I love building actual relationships and without them I would never be able to survive doing my job. Life is so much easier when you have someone championing for you and with you. I sincerely love to work for those that are just as invested as I am. Those that go out of their way to make things work.
I know the stereotype of recruiters is pretty close to a used car salesman ready to sell you a "BRAND NEW 1992 Honda Civic" with no engine in order to make a commission. I get it. I hate "pitches", salespeople, or anyone looking to make a quick buck off my perceived ignorance, so I try everything in my power NOT to be "that person". I know it seems outlandish, but people tend to know themselves pretty fucking well. Instead of steering them in the direction I want them to go, it's been a lot easier to simply as "what do you want?".
To all of the agencies, HR, Talent Acquisition, hiring managers, and candidates who have taken a risk, trusted me and gone along for some ridiculous rides...
"I appreciate YOU."

5ySarah, I’m truly loving your posts. I have been a proponent of the “high integrity - no bullshit” mode of communication and interaction for a long time. It’s refreshing to see this on LinkedIn where many consider use of the word “shit” in one’s posts as professional suicide. I guess I’m gonna have to live life on the edge, ya know... 🤔 🙄 Love.Your.Work. 🙏🌈💕👏🏻
