I Really Don't Care if You Write Your Book

"I'm going to wait a bit," she said. "This is not the right time."

"Maybe I'll circle back in six months," he said. "This is not the right time."

"The timing just isn't right," she sighed. I saw it on her face - that, 'I want to write a book but I just can't right now' look.

If the timing is not right at this moment, when will it be right?

If you're thinking you can wait until next year because you have so many other commitments right now, what does that mean?

It means your book is not important to you. It means your story is languishing in your soul somewhere, wondering if you will ever let it out.

It means thousands of people will not have the benefit of your creativity and intelligence and experience.

It means you think time is relative, but it's not. It's a fast-moving stream that carries intent farther away each day. Your intent. Your intention to write your book. Until, there it is...stuck in the mud along the river bank, so far away, you can only see a glimpse of it. A small sliver waving in the wind. And then, nothing. It's gone.

Do I care if you write your book this year?

Yes. I care.

I care about your story. About you. About the positive impact you could have on thousands of other people. About the legacy you could leave behind. About the joy you're missing out on - that indescribable joy one feels the day their box of books arrives and they hurriedly open it - reaching in to grab as many as possible. Holding them up to the light. Admiring the cover. Saying the title and author's name out loud.

My book, you think. My book. The gleam in your eye rivals the glow of the sun and all star shine everywhere.

I can tell you it's a joy unknown to most people because most people won't write their book.

They will allow their idea, their story, their dream to float away on time's fluid stream until it's lost to the weeds.

Until someone else writes it. As their story.

It's okay to be careful of your time. Your schedule.

Each of us needs to be cognizant of how much time we have to do this or that. To accomplish our daily goals. To run our businesses. Do our coaching.

I submit that writing a book is a necessary part of running your business. It builds credibility. Community. Sets you up as a thought leader. Attracts more and better speaking engagements. And helps other people, your readers, transform their lives for the good.

This is not news to most of you reading today. You know your book would be a powerful product to help build your business and increase profits.

You know I care about all of that. You know my role is to guide you, mentor you through the process.

You know all of this and still, I hear you thinking, "This is not the time. I am not ready."

Become ready. The time for your story to be shared isn't tomorrow. Tomorrow, as you may know, never comes. The time to do this is today. Now.
