MAPIC 2024 will bring together more than 5,000 participants and nearly 700 brands from around the world, positioning itself once again as the leading facilitator of connections and business opportunities in a rapidly evolving market. This year, the event will focus on the challenges faced by the real estate and commercial sectors in a changing context, addressing key topics such as sustainability, artificial intelligence, urban regeneration and adapting commercial spaces to new consumer expectations.
Main Topics of MAPIC 2024
1. Urban regeneration and diversity in the use of spaces
In an effort to respond to the growing demand for unique, quality experiences in physical retail, MAPIC will host the Retail & Urban Regeneration Summit, which will explore mixed-use projects that are shaping the cities of the future. These projects combine commerce, leisure and services, underlining the fundamental role of retail in the creation of vibrant and cohesive urban communities.
2. Observatory of Emerging and Expanding Brands International
MAPIC introduces the Observatory of Cross-Border Retail & Food, an initiative dedicated to connecting owners and operators with internationally expanding brands. This observatory will include a catalogue of 700 innovative and growing brands, such as Uniqlo, Krispy Kreme and Salomon, and will offer a retail gallery at the event, as well as pitching sessions where brands will present their concepts for expansion at a European level.
3. The rise of leisure and gastronomy in retail
With the redesigned LeisurUp space and new areas dedicated to brand licensing and immersive experiences, MAPIC will explore how leisure and gastronomy are transforming retail. LeisurUp will showcase trends in the programming of cultural, artistic and musical events, while the Happetite Forum will highlight restaurant concepts in full global expansion, bringing a new dimension to commercial spaces.
4. Innovation and sustainability as strategic axes
MAPIC underlines the importance of technology and sustainability as pillars of retail transformation. This year, a new category of the MAPIC Awards will focus on artificial intelligence (AI) solutions that are redefining the customer experience, from the supply chain to the point of sale. In addition, the Sustainability Lab will expand its reach, bringing together ESG experts and facilitating partnerships to address the sector's environmental challenges.
