Inclusive Marketing News Recap - 26th June

We’re back with the top marketing and disability news of the last two weeks! 🚀

🛍 ANTHROPOLOGIE’S ADAPTIVE COLLECTION: Anthropologie collaborated with influencers and the broader Disabled community to launch its first adaptive collection. The collection includes 8 reimagined bestsellers designed to better accommodate the needs of the community. Even though there’s been some criticism about some of the pieces and how practical they actually are for some Disabled customers, it’s still great to see this initiative from such a big fashion brand, and we hope they’ll listen to the community and continue improving their adaptive range!

📱INSTAGRAM’S NEW FEATURES: We have some new features coming up on Instagram ! The platform is trying out some new elements for carousel posts, with users now able to add text overlays on individual images in a carousel, as well as re-format images in the display.

🎶 MAKING OPERA ACCESSIBLE: New Zealand’s Visually Impaired opera fans will be the first in the world to access braille subtitles, enhancing their experience of live performances without relying on audio descriptions. NZ opera general director, Brad Cohen, developed this technology with his company “contexts.live”. It sends braille subtitles to the user’s personal braille-reading device simultaneously as the sighted audience reads the translations on screen.

🗣 DISABILITY ISSUES: People from around the world gathered at the UN Headquarters to participate in the largest global meeting on issues affecting Disabled people. Activist, actor, and talk show host, Nick Herd, led the UN News team on the opening day.

🗳 TIKTOK & THE UK ELECTION: With the UK General Election date now official, TikTok has announced a new, dedicated in-app General Election centre, where it will provide reliable and authoritative information for users ahead of the poll.

🏆 CAMPAIGN SPOTLIGHT - PADDY POWER: With the EURO 2024 taking place this summer, Paddy Power ’s latest campaign celebrates the England team as ‘Europe’s favourites’ to win, playfully poking fun at some of the stereotypical behaviour the English are renowned for. A great use of a celebrity and a pinch of humour to make everyone excited about the football tournament this month.

🏆 CAMPAIGN SPOTLIGHT - PINTEREST: Pinterest has launched another new promotional campaign as it seeks to boost awareness among potential ad partners, this time by highlighting the benefits of the platform in connecting users with a wide variety of interests. The new campaign aims to showcase how people can find their niche in the app, and how users experience the feed suggestions.
