The Infinite Creativity Machine
These weekly newsletters will have therapy deep dives, effective coping skills, mental health tips, psychology info, LinkedIn tricks, and business bits. For some reason, each of these areas appears to connect in my mind and I'd like to share them with you. Cheers to actionable insights!
This week's focus is a LinkedIn trick for those who struggle with being creative on the spot.
In less than 40 seconds you're going to learn how to spark creativity automatically.
If you're familiar with my work, you may have read The Infinite Content Machine for those who need one strategy to make unlimited content, forever.
What better way to write infinite content without immediate creativity.
The Wrong Way To Do It
Yes, there's a wrong way to be creative.
The answer:
Don't force it.
You may be that person who sits for hours waiting to be inspired.
That kills drive and energy.
You can say goodbye to motivation at that point.
There's a smarter way.
The Right Way To Do It
You probably like practical solutions as much as I do.
Once you build a new routine with these methods, your creativity becomes a habit.
You read that right:
The habit of being creative is real once you have a structured process.
Rather than giving you one way to spark creativity, I've given you 8 evidence-based ways to do it.
Here you go:
1 - Take a shower
Rinsing off helps produce alpha waves in the brain. These waves flood parts of your brain to produce creative juices. #ShowerThoughts
2 - Take a nap
Sleeping enacts your brain to consolidate memories and prune away thoughts no longer needed. This organizes your mind as you wake up which can spark creativity.
3 - Walk a new route
Walking different routes has a way of breaking routine which places the mind in a state of experiencing something novel. Most great ideas come from transitioning from A to B, such as physically walking somewhere.
4 - Get happy
Sadness inhibits creative ideas. Do what makes you happy first before tackling a creative project. Watch funny videos. Call a friend and laugh. You know you best.
5 - Stare at green
Recommended by LinkedIn
Older studies showed that being in blue colored room generates creativity. Updated research states this was incorrect and that the color green places the mind in a state of healing. This is where optimal creativity stems from.
6 - Solve impossible
Tackle impossible problems like how to live forever or how to hold your breath for days. Doing this forces you into a corner with old ideas which can help generate new ones.
7 - Connect dots
Staring at a blank page can give you an even blanker creative space. Think of the start and end of what you already have in mind: "I'd like to talk about my business (start) and how it can solve this one problem (end)." Creativity often fills the middle.
8 - Get objective
Rather than ignoring or judging thoughts and feelings about your creative process, seek objectivity instead (e.g., mindfulness). In other words, notice whatever appears in your mind, accept it as is, and see how less reactive you may be in your creative procedures.

2yWhen I am relaxed I get ideas, however I am intentional about the themes for the most part. There's an odd impromptu post because that's just how it is with me..... If you are very scripted and want to co-facilitate with me, eeh good luck. There are broad messages bit the details for me come up when I least expect it..

2yExcellent Jacob Kountz! Just a couple things to add into that. Get happy is often not as easily done as it is said. Leaving time with personal friends is a great way to do that and we can end up so busy that we block out all of our free time. Secondly, really working on the gut microbiome is essential to all of this. Hopefully we'll be publishing a collaborative book called "The Necessary Purge" that will deal with a lot of these issues. Will let you know when he gets out there. #friends #gutmicrobiome #thenecessarypurge
