The international tourism sector is off to a dynamic start in 2023, buoyed by figures that inspire optimism and confidence. Careful analysis makes it clear that international tourism is enjoying a notable renaissance.

Impressive resurgence in international arrivals

In the first quarter of 2023, international arrivals returned to 80% of their pre-pandemic levels. With an estimated 235 million international tourists,Consultancy Latifa Zenaina, communications strategy consultant for the luxury hotel industry and analyst of international tourism data, observes 86% growth compared to the same period last year.

Booming regions

Europe and the Middle East are leading this recovery, surpassing the 66% recovery noted in 2022. In addition, North Africa (+4%) and Southern Mediterranean Europe (+1%) are on the right track, returning to their pre-pandemic levels.

Tourism revenues: a remarkable rise

With over 1,000 billion USD in 2022, international tourism revenues have risen by 50% in real terms compared to 2021.
