Introducing Rancher Desktop v1.10
Rancher Desktop v1.10 was released earlier this month with some cool new features & here's a low down on one of my favourite ones.
If you are anything like me and like breaking things, factory reset options are probably your best friend too! However, reconfiguring your initial preference settings every time you break stuff and having to start from scratch is extremely cumbersome.
This is where deployment profiles come in. Introduced in v1.8, they can be used by users and administrators alike to provide initial preference settings on first-run or after a factory-reset, and to lock down settings, so that they can't be changed via the GUI or CLI.
As with a lot of things, there is ALWAYS a possibility you could incorrectly format these profiles if you create them manually. Here's where my favourite feature from v1.10 comes to the rescue, the create-profile command. Used along with Rancher Desktop's command line tool, rdctl, the command allows you to create your very own deployment profile for Mac and Windows.
Check out this fantastic blog for more details on this & other new features from this release.
