The last Kubernetes release of 2021: Kubernetes 1.23

As of yesterday, the last Kubernetes release for this year, Kubernetes 1.23, is now available for download on GitHub. With 11 enhancements having graduated to stable, 17 enhancements moving to beta, 19 enhancements entering alpha and 1 feature deprecation, this release consists of 47 enhancements altogether!

Some of the snippets that I personally found interesting in this release:

  • The Kubernetes Release process is now SLSA Level-1 compliant
  • FlexVolume, the recommended method to write Volume drivers, is now deprecated in Kubernetes.
  • IPV4/IPV6 Dual Stack Networking graduates to GA.
  • PodSecurity, the replacement for (now deprecated) PodSecurityPolicy admissions controller, graduated to Beta.

Read more about the Kubernetes 1.23 release on the official release blog & the corresponding release notes.
