Introducing The Strive Academy, Impact Sourcing, And Inclusive Hiring at Nutun CX
When Jon Yarlett, founder of the Impact Sourcing Alliance and COO of the well-known international business journal Intelligent Sourcing, was interviewed on this podcast recently he specifically talked about the work Nutun CX does in South Africa.
Why was he talking about our team and using us as an example of best practice?
Jon was explaining the importance of impact sourcing and how it goes beyond traditional Corporate Social Responsibility and can help to define and shape the culture of an entire organisation.
In my role as Chief People Officer at Nutun CX I see this all the time - all the opportunities that we create for our people to deliver a professional service to our clients. We actively strive to be different to most of our competitors.
This is why we created The Strive Academy.
The Strive Academy speaks to our own approach to impact sourcing and inclusive hiring. We invest in local communities and provide opportunities to a potential workforce that has had limited exposure to the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry.
We invest in training and development for local youth in our community and create meaningful opportunities and careers. This enables sustainable development in the communities where our people live.
As Jon stressed in his interview, this isn’t charity. Our clients need us to deliver a high quality service, but they also want us to create opportunities for people who may not have expected to work in a job that leads to a professional career - we are enabling it.
Many corporate leaders today are concerned about how their investors, customers, and employees see their business through the prism of Environmental, Social, and corporate Governance (ESG).
Companies must take ESG seriously. The fashion industry is a good example - customers are demanding that brands demonstrate their ESG credentials or they will buy elsewhere. Now, employees and investors are issuing similar demands.

A rapid way to boost your own ESG credentials is to work with partners that already take ESG and impact sourcing seriously - like Nutun CX. Embracing our ecosystem can immediately improve how customers see your company.
Our Strive Academy has a series of values that create opportunity:
• We in recruiting, educating and training young South Africans who have not spent any time in a professional workplace.
• We partner with employers to give our candidates real-world expertise, with in-depth onboarding, coaching in an operational environment, career guidance, and mentorship from industry leaders, every step of the way.
• A hands-on approach instils a sense of value and support, increasing the likelihood of long-term permanent employment and vastly improving the quality of their work and life.
• Shadow Careers is also beneficial for employers; a clear message that they support inclusivity, and understand that all anyone needs is a chance to prove themselves.
This interview by South African BPO legend Rod Jones with Franco Cotumaccio, the co-founder of Shadow Careers, gives a fascinating insight into how this organisation helps support people into professional careers.
We work with Shadow Careers to find and train employees that shine and add value wherever they go in the organisation. The Strive Academy grows individuals by providing EQ training, developing self-awareness, industry skills, and business etiquette, while encouraging them to embrace their profession.
We also offer national qualifications to equip candidates with any additional skills they might need. All of which is free to the employee - it’s our investment in their future.

1yThe experience I have had with Nutun Cx uMhlangafrom last week is outrageous. I called in on the the main number to speak to HR or Payroll and was given the number 0318169396 and spoke to a lady by a name Nicole who was very rude and gave no help at all as I need help getting getting the relevant forms I need to apply for my UIF but she failed to help me and said I was calling the wrong department as she is in accounts. I then asked her to please give me a direct number or transfer me to the correct department and she cut my call. I called again and the line went to her again where spoke very rudely and cut my call again. This is so frustrating and I have wasted so much airtime, Even emailed Nutun CX on the email address info@synergycontactcentre.com as It is the only email address I could find but there is no response.
