This 8-month course is meticulously crafted to enhance the skills and knowledge of lower to middle management personnel, with a particular focus on field staff in the microfinance banking sector.

Unit 1: Trends and Best Practices in Microfinance

  • Introduction to microfinance clients: understanding their needs and financial management.
  • Exploration of various microfinance institutions (MFIs), their origins, and characteristics.
  • Examination of different microfinance approaches and their effectiveness.
  • Future trends in microfinance and how MFIs can leverage them.

Unit 2: Managing Micro Credits

  • Overview of the loan cycle and lending methodologies: group lending vs. individual lending.
  • Detailed roles and responsibilities of loan officers throughout the loan cycle.
  • Techniques for conducting loan analysis, site visits, and financial assessments.
  • Strategies for loan monitoring and delinquency management.
  • Specifics of agricultural lending and successful product delivery mechanisms.

Unit 3: Managing Micro Savings and Micro Insurance

  • Importance of micro-savings and debunking myths about poor people's saving abilities.
  • Mobilizing savings and designing products to meet the needs of poor clients.

  • Islamic Microfinance: Understanding Shariah-compliant financial products and their impact on financial inclusion.

Course Schedule and Registration

The Microfinance Expert Course will commence on November 1, 2024, and will span over 8 months, with each unit covered comprehensively over one month.

  • Course Duration: November 1, 2024 - June 30, 2025

Priority enrollment will be given to individuals from lower to middle management, especially those in field roles within the microfinance banking sector.
