ISO Certification & Integrity HSE

ISO Certification & Integrity HSE

In the UK, the law asks that your business has access to competent HSE advice. If you outsource this type of support to an QHSE third party, it would be a mistake to think they also need to sit in your office on an expensive rate for three days a week. Here is what Integrity HSE do can using a single day rate every two weeks.

Last June, we were approached by a client who was exploring the possibility of replacing their QHSE support. They had heard very good things about Integrity HSE from one of our existing clients, and wanted to hear about what we offer. The client is already recognised as a leader in precision engineering and has a reputation built on excellence, meaning they demand and expect the best.

We met with the Managing Director (MD) and Operations Director to check the ‘fit’, and it was clear they met the standard we require to be a client of Integrity HSE. We had an expectations meeting, and all left with a clear idea of exactly what the client required, and what Integrity HSE can deliver. With that in mind, the client decided to replace their existing QHSE support with Integrity HSE.

It was a pleasure to establish a functional relationship with this particular client. Not only did we find them to be diligent professionals that we respected, but we also quickly realised they were lovely people that we enjoyed spending time with.

It was agreed that the client only needed our support for a single day every two weeks, and they could call us at any time if required. After 7 months of working together, we received an email from DNV informing us that the client's next ISO audit was scheduled to take place on Friday the 2nd of February 2024.

The client told us about the amount of preparation their previous QHSE support had asked them to do in anticipation of their last audit. Needless to say, they were very relieved to hear that nothing was required this time around. That is because the client were now using a management system that not only worked to improve their business, but would now also pass any audit as a by-product.

We hate to see businesses wasting their time preparing for an audit. If you ever find yourself doing that for a QHSE audit, you need to ask why. The truth is, your business should always be ready, because your 'business as usual' is best in class.

Anyway, we welcomed the DNV ISO auditor to our client's office last Friday. After a short opening meeting, the MD and Operations Director left the audit and got on with their day jobs. We then walked the auditor through the changes we had made to the client's management system, after which the Engineering Manager then gave them an in-depth tour of the machinery, equipment and workshop.

The MD and Operations Director joined the group for the closing meeting and heard that the previous 3 nonconformities (NCs) had been closed, and no new NCs or OFIs had been raised. This meant the ISO certification was stronger than ever, and they had a great independent audit report to show future customers.

The moral of this story is that if you want a company to help you get or keep ISO certification then that's not Integrity HSE. There are plenty of others who will do that...some of which carry generic plug-and-play management systems which have all the ISO bells and whistles baked in. However, if you want a cost effective solution that gives the same outcome but also comes with the benefit of never having to prepare for an audit again then email enquiries@integrityhse.co.uk
