Issues faced by downstream logistics
It is one thing to continually work on increasing the efficiency of a process from an internal point of contact, altogether another when one takes a holistic approach. In the case of downstream logistics, we have observed that control lies external to the organisation. Now, stoicism is a pragmatic approach, but organisations have to cater to shifting market forces. To understand the same we undertook a LinkedIn poll to take a stock of the situation.
The intel that we generated gives us pretty interesting insights. The poll above was run on the topic of what are the issues faced by people when it comes to engaging in eCommerce

POLL RESULTS
The poll generated the following results as per the volition of the viewers
Thus, in the purview of the humble dataset collated, nearly half of the subjects find delayed delivery their major issue with eCommerce. Next, a quarter of the respondents find damaged goods delivered their major issue, lastly reverse logistics latency is the major issue of a fifth of the respondents. “Delivery not available” is not statistically significant.
Thereby, considering the aforementioned proposition, it merits the precedent that the organisations need to focus on reducing the latency between order received and delivery undertaken and reduce the damages in transit time. These two factors together make up a majority of the problems listed above. However, for improving customer satisfaction and retention organisations also need to focus on the issue of long and complex reverse logistics processes.
