It’s Not About Who You Know

It’s Not About Who You Know

It’s About Who Remembers You When It Counts!

Imagine a shop window with no signs, no lights, no reason for passers by to stop and look.

Imagine hosting the event of the year, with huge headline acts performing but forgetting to tell anyone about it.

Or even launching the best product in your industry but staying silent while your competitors shout from the rooftops.

What happens?

Nothing! Silence. Missed opportunities. Forgotten potential.

This is exactly what happens when you fail to show up, especially in today’s hyperconnected world. Platforms like LinkedIn (now with over 1 billion users) have transformed the way we connect and engage.

Being invisible is no longer just a quiet moment in the background, you are on a fast track to irrelevance.

When you’re not present, you’re not just invisible, you’re irrelevant. If you’re not engaging, building relationships, and demonstrating your expertise, someone else is.

And while they’re planting seeds of opportunity, you’re completely missing out.

  • Every quiet day on LinkedIn is a chance for your competitor to eat your lunch.
  • Every missed post is a missed opportunity for someone to think of you first.
  • Every disengaged week is your expertise fading into obscurity.

When you’re silent, you’re leaving your audience to guess your value, or worse, assume you have none.

You’re like that shop that no one notices, or a that event that no one attended.

Staying invisible isn’t just a passive choice, it’s an active loss!

Looking from the other perspective is where the magic happens.

When you show up consistently, you don’t just exist, you thrive. Your presence becomes a daily reminder of your expertise, your value, and your unique position in your industry. You become the go to, the trusted professional, the first name on people’s minds when they’re ready to make a decision.

At Vanaways I see this in action every day. We’re not just a van supplier, we’re a solution provider. Whether it’s sourcing new vans and finance, creating bespoke conversions, or helping to support companies towards electrification of their fleet, people come to us because they trust us to deliver, and they know of us.

  • Through visibility.
  • Through consistency.
  • Through being remembered.

LinkedIn isn’t just another social media platform. It’s the most powerful stage we’ve ever had as Sales Professionals in our lives. It connects you to decision makers, influencers, and customers across the globe, instantly! Your audience is watching, some actively, some even (mostly) silently and every interaction is an opportunity to make an impression.

Here’s why I post so much on this platform...

  • A thought provoking insight sparks curiosity.
  • A valuable comment shows expertise.
  • A regular presence builds trust and familiarity.

The magic of LinkedIn is its unpredictability. A connection today might lead to a decision tomorrow. A post that seems small now might resonate months or even years later. Someone scrolling in silence today might remember you when they need exactly what you offer (The biggest deal I ever did was from a Second degree connection messaging me out of the blue!)

This is the power of visibility!

Opportunities are built, one post, one comment, and one conversation at a time.

If you’re not visible, you’re forgettable.

Opportunities don’t wait for you to get comfortable. Customers won’t seek you out if they don’t even know you exist. In today’s world, silence isn’t golden, it’s actually very costly.

  • If you’re not sharing your knowledge, someone else will.
  • If you’re not trusted, you won’t be chosen.
  • If you’re not remembered, you won’t be contacted.

The good news is, it’s not too late to change.

Success isn’t about knowing the right people. It’s about being the person everyone remembers.

And the key to being remembered? Showing up!

When your ideal customer is ready to make a decision, will they think of you?

That’s the question that drives me every day. At Vanaways we solve problems. My posts aren’t just sales pitches, they’re seeds of trust and connection.

And that’s why I make sure I’m always visible, front and centre, every single day.

  • Posting regularly to share insights, spark conversations, and demonstrate my expertise
  • Engaging consistently with my network to build familiarity and trust.
  • Adding value without asking for anything in return, becoming the trusted advisor people feel comfortable to do business with

Think of LinkedIn as your shop window. Are you lighting it up? Are you giving people a reason to stop and take notice? Or are you blending into the background, hoping that someone, somewhere, will notice you by chance one day?

Stop waiting for the perfect moment to start, there's never been a better time than now.

Because when the moment comes, when someone is ready to make a decision, they won’t just think of you, they’ll choose you.

Be present.

Be consistent.

Be unforgettable.
