Mythical Games Enlists Ubisoft, Animoca, Others to Launch Web3 Gaming DAO and Token

  • Blockchain gaming studio Mythical Games—along with 22 partner companies and a handful of big-name advisors—announced a foundation, DAO, and token Wednesday in an effort to bring decentralisation to Web3 gaming.The Mythos Foundation’s launch partners include game publishers like Ubisoft, Krafton, Netmarble, Kakao Games, Com2uS, CM Games, and others. Read more 
  • Near Protocol partners with Google Cloud to support Web3 devs [Via Cointelegraph] Near Foundation has announced a new partnership between Google Cloud and Near Protocol, providing infrastructure for Near’s Web3 startup platform, Pagoda. According to an Oct. 4 announcement, this partnership will allow Google Cloud to provide “technical support” to Near grant recipients by providing infrastructure for Near’s Remote Procedure Call node provider to Pagoda.

Japan to Invest in Metaverse and NFT Expansion [Via CoinDesk] In his speech to Japan’s parliament, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said the country will continue to focus on “supporting the social implementation of digital technology” and will “promote efforts to expand the use of Web3 services that utilise the metaverse and NFTs.”

  • SmartICE combines traditional knowledge and modern technology [Via ABC News] Used by more than 30 Inuit communities, the online program SmartICE pairs traditional Inuit knowledge with data collection buoys and electromagnetic sensors to give northern communities real-time measurements of sea ice thickness along their ice "highways".
  • NIST and Google to Create New Supply of Chips for Researchers and Tech Startups [Via NIST] The U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has signed a cooperative research and development agreement with Google to develop and produce chips that researchers can use to develop new nanotechnology and semiconductor devices. 
  • BBC's technology evolution shown at National Museum of Computing [Via BBC] A new exhibition looking at the evolution of technology at the BBC has opened to mark the corporation's 100th anniversary. It showcases the analogue and digital technology used by the BBC since its inception and the innovations it contributed towards.
