Kicking The Cat

Kicking The Cat

Bob’s day starts badly...

He wakes up late, spills coffee on his shirt, hits traffic on the way to work, and, to top it off, gets a speeding ticket when he’s already running behind.

When he finally arrives at the office, he’s already in a foul mood. At work, Bob’s boss is also feeling the strain of a hectic day.

Under pressure himself, the boss calls Bob into his office and gives him a harsh, critical review over something minor.

Feeling frustrated and underappreciated, Bob heads back to his desk...stewing, wondering why he puts in all this effort.

By the time he leaves the office, he’s reached his boiling point. On his drive home, Bob keeps replaying the scene in his head...stewing.

When he walks through the door, his wife greets him with a cheerful “Hi, honey!” but instead of responding kindly, he snaps at her about something trivial... His wife, taken aback and hurt, spends the next few hours feeling rattled, unappreciated and frustrated.

Later that evening, she walks past their son, who’s left his shoes by the front door again after she’s asked him to put them away a dozen times.

She scolds their son, her frustration finding an outlet. The boy, embarrassed and feeling unfairly targeted, storms off to his room, only to encounter his little sister playing with his favorite toy.

She just wanted to spend time with him, but in his anger, he yelled at her to leave him alone.

The little girl, confused and upset, heads to her room, but not before passing the family cat lounging peacefully on the hallway floor.

In her frustration, she gives the cat a small kick....

Who actually kicked the cat?

Bob? His boss? His wife? His Son or his daughter?

Chris and I have teenagers. This metaphorical cat is kicked all the time and if you have been through this season of life you know what I mean!

Here is the question:

Whose cat have you been kicking recently?

Have you been letting anyone kick your cat?
