When you were put on this earth you didn’t get an instruction book. Some people had great parents who showed them the way. Others were literally thrown into the (very deep) swimming pool of life and told to sink or swim.
During our lives we find things that work for us and things that don’t and only later on in life do you realise that.
As with the law of gravity - there are several other unwritten laws that you wish you had known when you started out.
These are the laws that have been previously documented that I have found to be true along the road of life which I thought I would share with you today.
1. The Great Law
"As you sow, so shall you reap." This is also known as the "Law of Cause and Effect.” – it actually gets better – as you sow so shall you reap tenfold and this pertains to the bad things you do, as well as the good ones. The better you are and the nicer you are to other people – the better life goes for you.
If what we want is happiness, peace, love, and friendship, then we should BE happy, peaceful, loving and a true friend.
Whatever we put out in the Universe is what comes back to us. What you do to others is already done to you.
2. The Law of Creation
Life doesn't just happen. It requires our participation – we are all on this earth for a reason and your mission in life is to find your purpose and your purpose in life is to give it away to everyone you meet – that is what leads to a life of fulfilment.
We are one with the Universe, both inside and out. You are who you are, but through a series of choices you can change to be better or worse.
Whatever surrounds us gives us clues to our inner state. There is no such thing as coincidence – everything happens for a reason – your job is to find out the reason. Surround yourself with people who will build you up and make you feel good.
Be yourself and surround yourself with what you want and who you want to have in your life. You can choose – everything in life is a choice.
3. The Law of Humility
You can't change something if you refuse to accept it. Accept the good and the bad in yourself and then work to change the bad into good.
If what we see is an enemy, or someone with a character trait that we find to be negative, then we ourselves are not focused on a higher level of existence. Bad experiences with others often show you how you should not behave.
4. The Law of Growth
"Wherever you go, there you are." It is essential to grow every day – the only person you have to compete against is yourself – always strive to be better today than you were yesterday.
Part of our purpose in this life is to grow our spirit and to realise it is we who must change, and it is not our job to change the people around us. We can accept them or reject them – the choice is always lies with you.
The only given we have in our lives is ourselves, and that is the only factor we have control over -that’s why it’s so important to believe in yourself and not rely on other people to make you feel the way you want to feel.
When we change who and what we are within our hearts, our lives follow suit and change too – make sure every change is for the better.
5. The Law of Responsibility
Whenever there is something wrong in my life, there is something wrong in me -every disease is dis-ease of the mind first before it manifests itself in the body.
We mirror what surrounds us, and what surrounds us mirrors us; this is a non-negotiable truth. Like an echo, what you put out keeps coming back to you.
We must take responsibility for what is in our life -never blame anyone else - it’s always your fault whether you like it or not.
6. The Law of Connection
Even if something we do seems inconsequential, it is very important that it gets done as everything in the Universe is connected.
Each step leads to the next step, and so forth and so on – every journey starts with the first step – and we just carry on going – life is a journey -not a destination.
Someone must do the initial work to get the job done and that someone is you.
Neither the first step nor the last are of greater significance, as they were both needed to accomplish the task, and your life is a series of tasks.
You cannot think of two things at the same time- that’s why it’s so important to focus on what you want, rather than what you don’t want. Worry and fear are the two things that will hold you back the most – drive them both out of your life and focus on the positive and what you actually want to achieve.
When our focus is on Spiritual Values, it is impossible for us to have lower thoughts such as greed or anger which have the lowest form of energy – gratitude has the highest form of energy. Always be grateful for what you have, and the universe will give you more.
8. The Law of Giving and Hospitality
If you believe something to be true, then sometime in your life you will be called upon to demonstrate that particular truth. You need to be able to walk your talk.
Here is where we put what we CLAIM that we have learned into actual PRACTICE.
9. The Law of Here and Now
Looking backward to examine what was or forward to worry about the future prevents us from being totally in the here and now. Every day is a gift, that’s why they call it the present.
Old thoughts, old patterns of behaviour, and old dreams prevent us from having new ones. Briefly look back to see how far you have come, focus on today and plan for tomorrow.
10. The Law of Change
History repeats itself until we learn the lessons that we need to change our path. Our life is a series of forks in the road, you can go right or left. If you chose the right fork, you move on to the next fork – if you choose the wrong fork, you go back to the beginning and start all over again. That’s why making the right choices is so important. The question is how many times you will make the wrong choice before you decide to change and make the right choice.
11. The Law of Patience and Reward
All rewards require initial toil -nothing is gained without hard work.
Rewards of lasting value require patience and persistent toil -every time you climb to the top of a mountain, there is another even bigger one waiting for you!
True joy comes from doing what we're supposed to be doing and knowing that the reward will come in its own time. You cannot demand the time or the place your reward will come but rest assured that when the time is right – it will.
12. The Law of Significance and Inspiration
You get back from something whatever you have put into it. You cannot do something good and expect bad to come but by the same token you cannot do something bad and expect good to come out of it.
The true value of something is a direct result of the energy and intent that is put into it – you have to give first before you can ever think of receiving.
Every personal contribution is also a contribution to the Whole – we are in this world together – everything and everyone is connected in one way or another.
Lackluster contributions have no impact on the whole, nor do they work to diminish it but it’s really important to give of your best every single day of your life.
Loving contributions bring life to, and inspires the whole- just keep going, doing the best you can, helping enough people along the way, clearing negative thoughts and people out of your life and you will live a long and happy life – happiness is what we all strive for daily.
Margaret Hirsch I agree 💯 with you,....but nobody ever shared with me or prepaid me that I would end up in severe trouble for abiding by laws....I was brought up very strict, honesty and ethical behaviors were taught living with integrity a must. Society expects of us to do what is right and the authorities as well......I hope you and everyone else will agree.... now for abiding by Government Gazette publications and the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Company policies, thier Values and their Code of conduct I ended up three times in a mental Institute and at 50 I was placed on permanent psychological medical disability.....I have an absolute clean record no charges no disiplanaries, no grievance or any claches with the law.
All legal fees for my own account.....if I had not acted and people died I would have been prosecuted by the NPA and righteously dismissed......No help from those who enforce these laws on us.
My life the past 35 years is one hurricane 🌀 after the other, life was not supposed to be like this if you do what is right.
Here are some more.....some recovered well

Such a powerful reflection! Life truly is a journey of learning, and the lack of a manual makes it even more interesting. Your comparison to the law of gravity is spot on—there are indeed those unspoken rules that can guide us through life's challenges. It’s amazing how our experiences shape our understanding and perspective over time. I can't wait to hear about the unwritten laws you've discovered! Thank you for sharing your insights; they will surely resonate with many!
