Leading with Love
What is “leading with love?” And how do you lead people you may not even like?
There’s an old saying that says: “Love is a verb, and a verb shows action.”
While you may not normally associate strong leadership with love, Joel Manby found this concept was a turning point in his influence as a leader. In his book, Love Works, he talks about love, not as a feeling but as an action.
And the actions of love are things like patience, kindness, humility, respectfulness, forgiveness, honesty, and self-sacrifice.
Now, if you have had the experience of working with a leader who exhibits these actions, then you know exactly what “leading with love” looks like. My friend and mentor, John Maxwell, comes to mind. There is no doubt about his strength as a leader. But after just a few minutes of observing him in a crowd, these actions of love become quite apparent.
Why do people follow him, and other leaders like him?
Because they know…love works.
Take some time to listen to this recent podcast on the subject and be inspired to be a leader who loves people.
