At least 20% of the people reading this have Sleep Apnea!!
Sleep apnea is one of the top reasons people get bad sleep. It affects a staggering amount of people and sadly a large number of people either don't know they have it, or they don't get treatment, or get the wrong treatment.
Even if you are sure you don't have it. Learning about it is smart and nearly certainly someone you care about does have it.
What is it?
Sleep apnea is a serious sleep disorder where a person's breathing repeatedly stops and starts throughout the night.
Sleep apnea can significantly impact the quality of life, leading to daytime sleepiness, difficulty concentrating, and even depression. It can also exacerbate other health conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease.
Imagine being choked multiple times during the night?
How to know if you have it?
You can take the STOP-BANG quiz. Alternatively, you can check out a more detailed quiz I made that will give you a more holistic overview of your sleep here.
What to do if you might have it?
I made a full FREE course that includes detailed breakdowns of everything including sleep apnea. You can find that here.
The conventional advice on Sleep Apnea is normally this>
While this is good, I would add a slightly different approach based on my personal experience and also that of many sufferers that I know.

Have it?
Don't have it?
EXACTLY THE SAME STEPS!
Why? Because if you have signs of sleep apnea, even if not having it officially. It does point to the fact your breathing isn't right. Seeing an E.N.T would be highly recommended.
Why Dentists?
Because how we breathe is often heavily impacted by our teeth and jaw and dentists are your go-to experts in this area.
Be Brutal!
Your quality of life depends on it. Ask questions, see experts, learn and don't stop until you are sleeping well again. Also, think about your family and those who care for you. They deserve the best version of you.
*Naturally, I am not a medical doctor and this is not medical advice. That said, my advice is in short, see a doctor, but also other types of doctors, and take responsibility. Nothing crazy to be said here. *

4moAnd dont think because you test as a mild case that you can/should avoid therapy. I have mild diagnosed patients who are, and feel much worse than, severe diagnosed patients. This has to do with the hypoxic burden each case places on each patient. Unfortunately OSA its still diagnosed with a quantitative measure, AHI, rather than a qualitative one in hypoxic burden. This is the burden your specific sleep apnea puts on your body with respect to oxygen deprivation and cardiac responses. Untreated it will take 6-7 yrs off of your life and make the rest of it poor; proven!
