The “Leave It Alone” Entry
One of my goals last year was to get healthier hair.
So, like I did with everything else, I dove into research. I’m talking YouTube, Pinterest, Instagram and personal research.
My hair was already heathy of course but, I always believe there is room for improvement.
My research proved fruitful as I learnt a lot about my 4b kinky hair. I learnt my hair type and my hair porosity. With these, I was able to understand what to do and not do to my hair, the amount of moisture to put in my hair, etc.
But with all of these variation of tips for different hair types, there was one basic rule that seemed to be true for all hair; leave it alone!
The videos I watched all promoted leaving your hair in protective styling and just leaving it alone to grow. No manipulation, no combing. After doing everything you’re meant to do, just let it be. You will never see results without that time you leave it to grow.
This is similar to the rule for plants. You can do all you can with watering and exposing it to light, but you’ll still need to be patient, trust you have done enough and just leave it to grow.
You are just like plants and well, hair.
Everything that grows needs time. You can put all the effort in, but the most important aspect of growth is time.
There are some things that you should just leave be.
You’re trying to work on personal improvement, allocate a time every day read good books, do courses and then move on to other things. There is such a thing as doing too much, I learnt this last year.
If you’re spending all your time reading, what time are you going to use to implement what you have read?
Or
You’re working on having a better social life but you’re spending all your time reading about how to have a better social life. So where will the social life come from? 🌚(this is actually a direct jab at myself😂)

You want to grow on LinkedIn, you should focus on the value you add. If you spend the whole time focusing on the numbers going up or down, you are going to get frustrated.
Sometimes you just have to trust that you have learnt and done enough and leave it be🤷🏾♀️
This year, with all you have to do, understand that patience is a necessary virtue.
You are not going to see results immediately. It’s like that saying, “a watched kettle never boils.” If you have ever tried to watch a kettle boil, you will realize how true this is. 3 minutes can feel like 3 years.
Try your very best and put in hard work but remember that growth will not come overnight. You have to trust that you have done enough and wait for things to play out.
As long as you have done the right thing, you will see the right results.
And if you don’t get the right results? You learn from it and try again🤷🏾♀️
RANDOM FACT OF THE WEEK: the fact for this week is a new word; Quixotic, an adjective which means to be extremely idealistic and impractical, often to the point of being unrealistic or unattainable.
P.S: Make sure to not miss out on the FREE 5 DAY COURSE ON GOAL SETTING that starts next Monday.
Have the best week!
See you next Sunday!
