Let's NOT get caught up in THIS business trend...

Friends,

I recently came across this quote and knew I had to share it with you.

"Leadership is not about being in charge. It’s about taking care of those in your charge."

This quote by Simon Sinek really gets right to the HEART of what leadership is all about

For all of us, it’s easy to get caught up in “business as usual.” This alludes to the masculine side of business—developing strategies, assessing targets, and completing deadlines—all fantastic things that we need to keep in focus, but certainly not the whole picture. Authentic leadership goes deeper than the business to-do list.

Leadership is about nurturing the people around you while staying deeply aligned with your vision.

As we gear up to enter the Fall season (counting down the days!), with the fourth quarter right around the corner, it can be tempting to focus entirely on the structured, practical steps that will help us meet our 2024 goals, which represent the “masculine” side of the business.

I’m here to gently remind you that effective leadership still requires us to lean into the “feminine” side of the business, such as creativity, intuition, and empathy.

While these leadership attributes may not translate as strongly on paper, I promise they will help you finish strong and stay connected to your purpose and your people.

Neuroscience also proves this principle to be true. The left hemisphere regulates the logical, strategic, and analytical thinking we rely on for our business's “bottom lines.”

The right hemisphere perfectly complements this. This is where we generate the creativity, intuition, and emotional connection our business also relies on.

When we intentionally engage both sides of our brain, we will be a much more holistic, impactful leader. Guaranteed.

To help you gauge where you are at as a leader in this feminine/masculine balance, I’ve created a few questions for you to consider:

  1. Goals and strategies are absolutely fundamental, but am I leaving enough space for creative thinking and innovation? What can I do to generate more right-brain activity and work that into my decision-making process?
  2. How am I investing in my team’s emotional health and creative genius? Am I taking the time to listen to and understand my team? How can I bring a more authentic connection into my leadership (that is still true to me)?
  3. Am I celebrating the mile markers my team is hitting? As important as it is to focus on results, am I also acknowledging the smaller wins along the way? How can I bring more joy and gratitude into the business that conveys to my team that I see their hard work and value it?
  4. Am I leaning into my intuition? If I truly believe that some decisions can’t be strictly based on numbers, how can I learn to recognize and trust those gut feelings? How would leaning into my intuition improve my leadership?

I invite you to take the time to consider a few of these questions. Maybe even implement just ONE of these ideas this month and observe how it impacts your leadership.

Tap into that intricate balance of masculine and feminine, logical and intuitive, structured and creative, and see how it might really impact you and your business.

Let’s lead with intention, heart, and the full power of our fully integrated selves.

Wishing you a warm and fulfilling September,

Raeanne
