LinkedIN AI: What were the key takeaways from the ASU+GSU Summit?

Answer: Key takeaways from the ASU+GSV Summit include the critical role of technology in education, the importance of product and pedagogy, the focus on learning and career outcomes, and the growing significance of AI in enhancing personalized learning and workforce development.

The readers digest answer I think misses some key points:

AI is hyped up, sexy and appealing. Use cases expressed with AI make me wonder - remember the Robot in Lost in Space? Danger Will Robinson.

I had difficulty drilling down into the Source of truth, Network of Trust and Evidence Based Learning encapsulated and packaged. Like the Wendy's ad - Where's the beef? Why are we dropping practices like expecting footnotes, references and annotations?

EdTech is about the role of technology improving the learning ecosystem. There are thousands of applications and growing.

Interoperabitly was mentioned over and over again - and there were few sessions focused on what it means - how to improve it. It's assumed?

Our human connections are so important. That is why we convene. Its a primary source of how we build trust through association. 9000 people.

Why would we gather to listen to expert panel speakers and not just ask the AI generator tool? That would have saved me plenty of time and money, but that is not what I came for. The informal meetings dominated my experience.

Listening is an active soft skill. Listen twice as much as we talk. It was a key takeaway for me.

Every provider and vendor showcasing - expressed their use of AI. It leads me to question more - not stop. That is a great outcome. I want to learn more.

Machine learning depends on pattern recognition. Patterns allow us to be more predictive. Don't we need to question the correlation values, confidence, variation, time series and dependencies?

I expanded my insights, opportunities for collaboration and my understanding through interacting with others, their remarks, conclusions and drawn inferences from the conversations, panels and lectures. That was a key take away for me.

Learning is more than asking a computer for an answer. Yes, AI can do more than that. Without knowing what content or sources were used in the answer, I am feeling the dumbed down result looses so much - at least for me...

We all have bias. Even AI has it. How do we address that was a big take away for me.

Is'nt attending formal prepared sessions and meetings - with panels, speakers, moderators - more like classrooms activities?

No formal feedback was requested by the online event app or surveys or upon exit. So, everything mentioned - is truly annidotal.

Hope that helps...
