The Local Legend - Episode 3
Firstly, I think I bit off more than I can chew by saying this would be a Tuesday and a Friday thing (rookie mistake), and then to fall after the 2nd hurdle is a bit embarrassing. I guess that's the way the cookie crumbles. Or in my case, the insanely large cookie I've started eating. Luckily, this isn't a 100m sprint, it's a marathon. I've got back up, dusted myself off and back to it. Isn't that what life is about a lot of the time?
Anyway, this episode is slightly different. I'm going to talk about my aspirations to become a Local Legend! I see local businesses in Gloucestershire, who are doing extremely well and it makes me think 'I want to be like that'. I mean, who doesn't want to be as successful as these legends?
I soon found a passion for live music at a fairly young age, being a frequent visitor to Gloucester Guildhall. Wired records monthly shows, Limehouse Lizzy, Live/Wire, Whole Lotta Led (every year around my birthday without fail, until they changed their lineup...) I could go on... I once thought to myself back then, imagine if Gloucester had a large venue that could host big bands & artists... how cool that would be!
Fast forward to 2020, I thought of THE perfect venue for a large music / events venue. The old Toys R Us building. Massive. After getting in touch with the company leasing it out and got some details, I started putting together a business plan. Then boom... Covid. That was that for now.
During last year, once things had calmed down and normality crept back in, I picked up the plans and tried to get the ball rolling, only to find out that Toys R Us is in motion for something else, I have no idea what. What could possibly be better than a live music / events venue in that building? Only time will tell I guess.

All in all, I want to create a large music / events venue here in Gloucester. Think of the Birmingham NEC but obviously on a much smaller scale. It would benefit alot of businesses in the local area, do wonders for the local economy, I'd also look to create a partnership with The Music Works. If you don't know who they are, I strongly recommend looking them up. Some people will probably think it's a bad idea, some people the opposite. It's certainly ambitious I know, however, I truly believe it would be a hit. With all of the development going on in and around Gloucester, with 'The Forum' up and coming and Gloucester as a whole on the rise, it could potentially be a landmark for the County.
With my mind wandering like it usually does, this would be just one of the several businesses I've thought of in my make believe entertainment company. All of which are great ideas I will add, but that is another kettle of fish for another day.
For now, it is just a dream, but hopefully one day, it might just happen...
My journey for Local Legend status continues.....

2moDreams are what keeps the passion alive Dan. You are in a great position to trust your intuition, if the large store had come off you would have had a huge burden at a time of real financial uncertainty. Building step by step always feels like the big picture is a long way off, but with each step that is taken with certainty confidence grows as does your reputation. You only become a local legend when people truly see your staying power 🌟
