How to add a touch of Christmas to your outfits 🎄
Level 1: Add a touch of red or green
The easiest way to channel Christmas vibes. If you’re someone who likes to keep things simple but still wants to feel festive, a pop of red or green is the perfect subtle hint of holiday cheer. It’s a small touch, but it says, “I’m ready for the season!”
Level 2: Incorporate plaid
A plaid scarf or shirt, or coat screams cozy holiday charm without being too bold.
For those who love the feeling of comfort and warmth, this is the way to go.
Plaid is a classic that makes you feel like you’ve just wrapped yourself in the coziest blanket by a fire without losing your stylish edge.
Level 3: Bring in some sparkle
Think sequins, metallic accents, or glittery accessories.
If you're the type who loves to stand out in the crowd, this is your moment to shine! A shimmery purse or a sparkly bow ties adds just the right amount of festive glow, giving you that extra sparkle while keeping it classy.
Level 4: Use Holiday-themed accessories
Add earrings, a necklace, or even a tie with Christmas trees or reindeer.
These accessories are a great way to show your holiday spirit without going overboard.
Level 5: Go all in!
Break out the Christmas sweaters or dresses with holly, Santa, or even snowman prints. Combine elements of levels 1 to 4 and let your personality shine. This is your level!
What level are you at this holiday season?
Communication
Is this familiar?
You show up on time for a meeting, maybe even a few minutes early, ready to dive in.
Then, the leader says, “We’ll wait a few more minutes for the latecomers.”
What does this really communicate?
• It penalizes the punctual.
When meetings don’t start as scheduled, those who arrive on time may feel their effort isn’t recognized. Over time, this subtle signal erodes morale and respect.
• It rewards tardiness.
Waiting for latecomers creates a cycle. People start to think, “I don’t need to be on time—there’s always a grace period.” This pattern undermines the very efficiency meetings aim to achieve.
• Do latecomers even want to be waited for?
Many late arrivals feel awkward walking into a room where everyone is already waiting. Starting on time shows consistency and removes the spotlight from those arriving behind schedule.
So, what’s a better approach?
👉 Start on time, every time.
Punctuality sets a professional tone and communicates respect for everyone’s time.
And here’s a thought:
Instead of waiting, open with an icebreaker or fun question to engage attendees from the get-go. This ensures early arrivals feel valued and starts the meeting with positive energy.
What are your thoughts? How do you handle tardiness in meetings?
Mindset
I recently came across Mel Robbins’ Let Them Theory, and it stopped me in my tracks.
The idea is so simple:
let people think, do, and act as they choose, without stressing yourself out trying to control it.
This mindset is freeing because it removes the mental weight of overthinking and people-pleasing. Instead of trying to mold situations or opinions to fit your expectations, you focus on what’s within your control:
• your own growth
• your own happiness
• your own peace of mind.
It allows you to reclaim your energy and stop overthinking or trying to manage other people's actions.
Mel Robbins’ new book, Let Them, explores this idea further and even has Oprah’s endorsement. The book will be released in January 2025, and I can’t wait to read more!
