Make it Count

Make it Count

Being the most common cancer in men, 1 in 8 men on average are affected by Prostate cancer.

Men are born and raised in a society where asking for support or showing signs of weakness can still bring with it an element of shame or self-doubt yet taking care of themselves has become more important than ever as the risk of cancer increases.

So why am I doing this? To make it count.

An incredibly important part of combating prostate cancer is simply by spreading awareness of the disease and of the importance of routinely checking yourself at home or with your doctor to recognise any potential symptoms. I hope in some way that this fundraising and all other similar campaigns inspire men to be courageous so they can step up to their own self-care. Maybe not for themselves but for their friends and family as cancer affects wives, partners, daughters, granddaughters, sisters and friends.

It is important to act now as seconds turn into minutes that turn into hours, those hours turn into days, years and ultimately our lives. You have to watch every second. That second that just passed. It counted. And so did that one. Either you are contributing and growing or hiding and decaying. So make your seconds count.

“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honourable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well” – Ralph W. Emerson
